6MT transmission will not go into neutral
Hey everyone,
Looking to see if anyone has had this issue; even when the shift knob appears to be in neutral position, as i release the clutch it still engages and starts to attempt to move forward(from the engagement appears to be stuck in 4th). when i push clutch in, and shift to reverse brake lights still work but does not move backwards, it stalls trying to move forward. with the clutch pushed in I can shift R-4th but unable to get knob into 5th or 6th. And again once shift knob is in neutral and i release the clutch slowly it still engages a gear and attempts to move forward but stalls. Any ideas? |

if the reverse lights work when you put it into reverse that means the gearbox is engaging reverse,
tow the car somewhere and inspect the driveline something is broken

This may be the first 6MT to break internally on this forum?
I can't find where reverse lives but if the shifter can still engage reverse, and 5th and 6th are locked out, sounds like it done broke Can you get it moving with any amount of slip? I can start my car in 4th gear without stalling it if I slip the clutch enough.

I can't remember where reverse lives inside this trans, but odds are better than average that if the reverse switch is lighting up (meaning the shfiter is still able to move some part of the selector around inside the gearbox), and you move forward when the car is in reverse, something inside the trans has snapped in half
