Salvage/Rebuilt E9x m3's

Just recently picked this up for an amazing deal! Alittle shy of $12,500 for a slick top, manual e90 m3! I guess everyone else is worried about the title branding, owell!

Anyone else purchased their car with a salvage/rebuilt title?

To each their own. Most ins. companies won't pay out on a salvage/rebuilt title in the event of an accident. They only let you carry liability, no physical damage (i.e., comp/collision), at least here in Tx. So any mods, etc you put into the car, those are a lost cause.

Car looks nice, I'm glad you're happy with your purchase

I would have seriously considered that if I was in the market. Change the rod bearings.

Yup! The car has some issues that need to get fixed like a couple of sensors. But other than that it's a pretty stout car!

Thanks! I am insured through Gieco and wanted full coverage so all I had to do was go to a Gieco inspector to check it out.

I've sometimes considered this route. The thing that holds me back is that I am so anal about my cars, that if a panel didn't line up right or something of that ilk, it would drive me insane.

Also, I don't keep cars for more than 4 or 5 years, and the branded title makes them nearly un-sellable. But, if planning on keeping it for the long run, this wouldn't really be an issue.

$12,500 plus... Only a few dollars for a few sensors and it's a deal of the century. Keep us updated over the next 12 months and let's see where you are at. Nice find.

Same here! I change cars every 2 years or so. Before this car I had an e92 m3 dct that I was scared to push on because it was 3 times the cost of my current car. With this e90, I can push it, drift it, mod it and not really worry about messing anything up because it was so cheap.

I mean, a >100k 2008 is worth about $20k. The rule of thumb for salvage title cars is around 60%. That seems like it's in line.

That's an insane deal, congrats! At that price, who cares if it's salvage as long as it's mechanically and structurally sound. And you should have no problem finding potential buyers if you ever go to sell around that price, especially with such a rare build. I'm actually a little jealous...

True, and I agree with the salvage title car values. When I was searching for cars all over from New York to Florida, I could barely find an m3 that was worth it for this price range. I kept finding e36/e46 m3's with 150-160k miles for 11-14k which in my opinion is not worth it.

Thank you! The previous owner was in a rush to sell the car to purchase an m4 and did not expect him accept my offer!

* Salvage title cars can be somewhere between a huge pain in the ass and impossible to register depending on your location.
