Semi-Roll Cage where back seats are useable?

Hey all. It's a little bit down the road, but I'm trying to do a 911 RS style build on my E90. I am going to go with Hard Motorsport door panels and want to get a roll cage that leaves my back seats still useable. Does anyone have any links or will I have to build my own?

Sub'd since I'm not aware of any E90s cage that accommodates rear passengers

Regardless I think it would extremely unsafe for rear passengers

Thats cool that if allows you to not smash your face in a fender bender, but i highly doubt that roll bar is going to be approved for any sanctioned racing... just FYI.

Nah. Just want to do autocross and have an extra layer of protection. Will have a Nerf bar all around.

This doesn't even have harness mounting points, meaning you're relegated to the Quick Fit setup. Hard pass.

Nothing exists like what is described. You don't have to worry about this in autocross, this risk is much less than road course driving.

any rear bar is going to have places where metal would contact the rear passenger's bodies, resulting in bad things

+1 - You should never put a passenger in a seat with a roll cage near their head or in the path of their face in the event of an impact. That's a great way to kill someone or at least make them ugly.

Agree.

Also - there is no benefit for autocross.

No

Doesn’t matter where the bar is. In a bad enough crash a 3 point will let limbs and head etc find it and hit it. You don’t get to pick when somebody will blow a red light or cross the median. Dumb as low percentile rocks

I’m kind of in love with those door panels though I’d want to do some research on what side impact systems are impacted (haw haw) by them. I was under perhaps a mistaken impression that side impact on the e90 was all handled by accelerometers plus the seat and curtain airbags but they give you this ominous warning:

**WARNING: These Door Panel replacements were NOT designed for the O.E.M. side impact airbag mechanism; it will not interact nor is it designed to interact with this system on the car.**

Maybe there’s a sensor in the doors I’m not aware of, though I bet it’s just a lawyer disclaimer

Bad idea to put passengers where a bar is.
