Where to get PE/ACM exhaust mod in GTA

I bought a used pe mod off a member, it was the 2 pipe method so its not as loud.

I want to get mine done with the 4 pipe method, anyone know a good place in the GTA that will do it?

Thanks!

I planned to get mine done by Felix Muffler in scarb. They quoted me $300 over the phone. They did the PE mod for a few friends' BMWs.

I plan to go with the 4 pipe method as well.

No experience, but L&G Exhaust in Markham advertises these on Kijiji routinely.

I ended up going here last year. They are more expensive than others, but they were the only ones open on a weekend for me.

I had an okay experience. Friendly folks, but they were apparently short a mechanic and had a lot of walk-ins the day I had my appointment. I ended up waiting for 6 hours that day for them to complete the job. The owner was sympathetic and knocked off a few bucks, which I appreciated.

In terms of the job itself, they seem to know how to weld and the owner was quite meticulous in ensuring the welds were done properly. I would recommend the shop.

Do you mind letting me know how much it cost you?

Thanks

Nice! Did they remove the muffler from car and cut from the top of the muffler? And did you have them paint it afterward?

Great to hear! They gave the cheapest quote by far, so glad to hear they do good work. I'm going to call today and try to set up an appointment.

I was referred by another member from M3post to go there, definitely one of the best places to go to. The other shop in Markham quoted me $500...

Did you do 2 pipe or 4 pipe? I read about the 2 pipe method being very subtle. I daily drive it with my toddler in the back every day, so I want to be able to have a regular-volumed conversation haha But at the same time, I'd like a bit of extra volume on the exhaust note, particularly when stepping on it. I have my mind set on the 4 pipe method based on reading reviews (youtube videos don't really help), and I haven't found anyone saying it is too loud. Car is stock (including cold start), and I do NOT plan to modify it further (ie. keeping stock cats/xpipe).

If you don't plan to modify it further than 2-pipe is just PERFECT. Anymore (4-pipe) will create a little bit of cabin drone and increase the volume too loud.
I found that the 2-pipe method has to be one of the best sounding exhaust systems for the E9x M3 if paired with the factory x-pipe. With the 2-pipe method, if you end up getting testpipes or a catless x-pipe it will be bearable, but the 4-pipe just sounds obnoxious.

Ok I'm going to go with the 2 pipe method. Worst case, I can either add test pipes (keeping secondary xats to reduce smell), or open it up again for the other two pipes.

Alright so got the 2 pipe method done at Felix muffler. I love the sound! I do understand why the OP and some wish it were louder, but as there is zero drone, volume inside cabin is nearly the same as stock, but loud when ripping it, I'm pretty happy.

Rather than cut the perf pipes, they cut new piping in half, clamped around perf pipes and welded. I was fine with this approach as I've seen plenty people take this method rather than cutting. I didn't take any photos, but the welds looked the same as the many photos online lol

As for Felix Muffler, very nice people, but I'd recommend the following:
- Get there right or before they open, they don't do appointments, first come basis. I ended up being there for 4.5 hours. This wasn't mentioned on the phone when I made my "appointment".
- Watch them step by step, two things in my case:
1) they cut the muffler off rather than loosening the clamps and removing the entire rear section. I didn't realize until it was too late as I was doing work on my laptop. Not a huge deal, but I sure most would prefer to keep the cutting to a minimum.

2) they almost started to cut the outside section (aka ACM style mod), so I had to explain exactly where I wanted it cut.

Understandable since they work on all makes, not bmw specialists. After showing this, the guy called me over to look at the end of each step, before proceeding to the next, so that was def appreciated.

Thanks for the writeup! I will call them this week and get my other exhaust done with 4 pipes.

Luckily it's already off the car so I don't have to risk any cutting haha. Is there anything special other than doing two extra pipes, I should mention to them? Is there a certain name I should ask for?

Thanks

Based on my experience, they'll want to wrap the two smaller pipes vs cutting and welding in a new piece.

If you want something specific, ask over the phone ahead of time (some use exhaust wrap instead).

It's a small shop, I think it's Felix and his brother, and then there were two other guys. I didn't ask for anyone in particular, everyone there was welding at one point while I was there.

Again, I'm not an expert, so I don't know how to judge quality of their welding.
