I saw her live at company Holiday Party (back in late 80's) and she was amazing to see up close and personal. Unlike today you can actual hear her voice over the music and understand what she is singing.

Just now switching through the random rubbish that infests my cable system, I came across someone playing video of Aretha singing gospel live. Such a voice, such a voice.

My musical influences were set at an early age. My father used to play old Motown records and slap the headphones on me before I could even walk. I still have pictures of me as a baby laying on a blanket with those hunter green headphones on my giant head. There are a few voices that I can recall from that time and hers was definitely one that stood out.
Rest in peace to one of the greatest vocalists to ever grace the microphone. Truly a treasure. |

A consummate professional...cool story about her filling in for Luciano Pavarotti at the last minute during the 1998 grammys which was no easy task.

Miss. Franklin knew how to treat her man and I took lessons. My friends joked during my first marriage that "you are DEDICATED to THAT man hunny!" I learned from the best...
"Gurl...cant talk to ya now, I got Love to get! When my baby calls I gotta "Jump to it!" I'm in a hurry, there's Love to get! When my baby calls I "jump, jump, jump to it!" Damn...RIP Miss. Franklin. Thanks for the music and life lessons ;(
