Build Journal of Signature Wheel Track Project
Hello friends. We picked up an E92M3 to prep for 2022 season. So far, PFC BBK and MCS 2-way. D088 radiator and oil cooler. Recaro seats and M3 GTS style wing. GT4 lip with brake cooling.
Looking for feedback: You guys prefer bolt on or custom cages? (which brand) What wing and dive planes work best together for this chassis? As for tires, most likely doing R3s unless there are better option for the money. Thanks for your help. Last edited by Signature Wheel BMW; 05-07-2022 at 08:34 AM.. |

I'm really looking forward to details on brake cooling hose routing. I failed with my first attempt. I routed from my GT4 lip to the backing plate using the same route I found online from photos. Hose got destroyed between sway bar and front control arm. Post detailed pics of that please!

Its a tight fit by the sway bar but it works. I dont see how you could run them in the front of the LCA like Signature Wheel has theirs, my 295's crush the hose at full lock

I have this roll bar in the sunroof spec and I really like it, I will be ripping it out in a few months to build a full cage https://www.bimmerworld.com/Safety-R...E92-Coupe.html For aero what is your plan for the car? Just a casual HPDE car then the GT4 is fine with the GT4 front lip, I ran this combo for a few seasons. If you plan to get into time trials or pushing for ever 1/10 on the track you will want more aero. Larger rear wing (I run a 70" nine lives) and more front aero. Tires... depends on your goals for the car again. Just lap time/hpde? Time trials? etc. For general seat time I really liked the Nitto NT01 becuase it wears like iron and has steady grip as it gets hot. But its garbage in the rain and loud as heck on the street.

Not sure on brands yet, but classic mesh with lip/concave with antislip knurling bead tread.

The fattest brake pads I've ever seen in my life. Look like 2 burnt Texas toasts.

275/35/18 Maxxis RC1 R2 have been very good for me on 18x10.5 wheels. I like them more than A052, AR-1, NT01, RR, and SC3

New motor/s heads are getting valves seated, sodium filled valves, valve springs, and light porting. Every seal will be replace and BE rod bearings / bolts. I'm praying the old block can be saved so I can send it out to be sleeved / bomb proof for stage 2. Debating between stroker 4.4 or just run ESS G1 with larger pulleys for track use.

Check new wheel clearance
Track wheels don't always need to be dull looking or require spacers to clear brakes. Ours allow the PFC massive BBK swims in the barrel, no clearance issues.
53.1mm lip, concave, motorsport drop cup lug area, and Signature Friction Lock (anti slip knurling bead tread) to reduce tire slippage which can throw the balanced set out of balance. 18x10 ET15 square with track camber setting is perfect per our measurement. No rubbing and clears suspension without needed shorter springs. Wheels in production. 4 weeks wait time.

More details coming soon. Tom Wrigley Performance took our wheels to 207mph with his M240i, smooth as butter. We have a couple sets of 275/35/18 3R, will use the 18x10 for this then the set will be up for sale used. Phase 2 is 295/35/18, then widebody for some real meat.

295/30/18 is what most of us go with. The 295/35/18 is too tall up front

Supertech Valves Springs and Valves
Our S65 only has 68k miles and is getting Supertech Inconel Exhaust valves, black nitrided intake valves, and springs. Valves will get 5-angle jobs and light ported.
The S65 reaching higher mileage will have 2 weak links: Rod bearings and valve springs. Older valve springs tend to float at high RPM, will end up breaking or snapping the valves which is called "dropped valve". This is catastrophic on the track. If you plan to boost, good idea to get main bearings done and might as well get the crank polished and balanced at that point. My big surprise is the S65 comes ported out of the factory. BMW puts in a lot of thoughts for this motor, makes it unique.
