Battery tender

My car sits in the garage for long periods of time. Can anyone recommend a battery tender that they use?

Much appreciated.

In case you have a Costco membership, check product 1385392, currently for $40.
Had it for two years with zero issues.

I use this one.
I'm not a battery guru, but someone told me it has some beneficial mode (desulfide?), that helps with overall battery health.

Whatever you choose make sure it has an AGM charging mode if you have an AGM battery.

FWIW, I'm not a huge fan of permanent tender use. I've had a Battery Tender brand tender fail and boil over a batter. Also, in 993 land, ever since battery tenders got common, DME failure became a lot more common. At the very least, you should have a tender run through a surge protector if you insist on leaving it plugged in long term.

Edit: For the record, I'm currently using a NOCO genius charger. I've thrown out all my Battery Tenders, and the CTEK has suffered from the usual button failure that makes it useless.

Thanks for the insight. I hope to drive the car more often but I will be using a surge protector when I do leave the car on the tender.

CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0

Leave it on all winter, it's not a fast charger steps 6-8 can take awhile.

Doesn’t get much easier than this. Battery tracker tucked in there to monitor health.

I plan on using a battery maintainer over the winter. Should I connect directly to the battery in the trunk or is it ok to hook up to the connections under the hood?

Under the hood. It's keeps the battery management circuits in play.

under the bonnet is easiest but as long as you put the negative to a ground point and not the negative battery terminal

I use a Schumacher branded one and leave it on the AGM setting at 3 AMPs. I have been using it for the past 5 years and it's been great. Under the hood!
