Getting my springs and new tires installed today - one of my studs snapped. Got 24 days of life out of them, so not too shabby. Getting a new set installed. :/

Apex 75mm M12, was using bullet nose, but switching to hex for the next set so it's easier for me to unscrew. Not using spacers.

This was the set I was planning on using on the track. Surprised to hear they snapped so soon. Any comments from Apex?

24 *track* days. I'd say I got my money's worth, lol - and this is with many tire swaps.

I would say I was generally careful about not putting too much lateral pressure on them when I was torquing them (applying counter force when torquing), and waiting until the wheels were cool after a session before unmounting.

Yeah, 1 season was the recommendation I got from Apex when I bought them - problem being I ran a season in 6 months.

Lol at your brake pads guys!
I have about 3mm left on my fronts and tossed them in the bin in the garage and got some pfc 08. I might just dig them out and slap them on for Sunday before using the new pads but I'll bring the pfc as well. I got a garage for Sunday so will be able swap if needed. Also I figure braking won't be too bad since we won't see as high of speeds (but slower longer braking so who knows). Going to bring my bald nt01 just in case but otherwise I will be driving on some Yokohama SDrives Tire wear shouldn't be too much with rain. I'm hoping it pours and win with a 3min lap

Sorry for posting this here. Didn't want to create a new thread, and this is a general discussion thread after all.
Been looking into seats for my car, and I want HALO for myself for protection in lateral collision. I also need to use the back seat area to store shit, so instead of just using floor mounts for passenger seat, I will need to do something different so that I can gain access to rear seat area. With that in mind, please provide input for any of my questions. •Is it/do you feel safe using HALO seats in public, considering lateral movement of head during some collisions? Disregard the visibility issues because the OMP HALO seat that I like doesn't block side to side view. Sparco Ergo, another option, has removable head restraints or whatever they're called, but I am waiting for my local racing shop to get another in so I can sit in it and see if I like it. •I like to have lumbar support and know attachments are sold for racing seats. Is there any reason why I should avoid lumbar support? •Since I'm still new to tracking, I will require a passenger seat for instructors. I see some people run HALO seats for driver and regular racing seats for passenger. How do you instructors feel about that? Would you prefer to also have a HALO seat as a passenger? •Would having a folding racing seat for passenger be an asshole thing to do? •Would a slider for passenger seat help me gain access to rear seat area? I'm concerned that even if I slide the seat all the way forward, I still won't have room to put track wheels in back because the seat back will get in the way. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of important questions. TIA. |

Halo is absolutely illegal for street use.

You could install the driver side on the passenger side so the extension goes forward rather than backward and mount the slider more toward the front. Then you can slide the seat way forwards to get to the rear and slide it back decent enough for others. I have EAS MS and VAC hardware one on each side. The vac one is better in terms of adjustability and options when fitting shit in. I spent one weekend and then another weekend fiddling with them and the vac one was so much easier to play around with to get everything right. Also I have EAS MS side mounts and have to use spacers but a bit too much of it so I'm switching to the Sparco universal side lmount....again because of tons of adjustability. See pic. Someone got an ergo on here but I think it was fatter than the average bear so make sure it fits in your car. No such thing as folding race seats? It'll prob collapse in an impact. Don't know how fast you're going or the chances of actually having impact that you need a halo seat. I understand if you are going 10/10 side by side wheel to wheel racing but for hpde or time attack not sure. I was anal about safety but also have to measure what the chances are of impact. I like open hot laps so I either pass or let pass or even pit in to create space so didn't think I needed full blown halo seats. Knock on wood. Like bigjae said. Get your ass planted in the seat, control the car better and more relaxed as a result - less chance of crashing.
