Exclamation Decision...

***I just went ahead and turned this thread into a sort of music-build feed for all of the stuff that I work on/put out. Instead of going through pages or creating separate threads, all updates will be done here in the OP.***

Original post concerning "Decision": Some of you may know that I make beats, but I've also taken a recent interest in the booth (consisting of microphone, headphones, etc). I know this is a BMW forum, but this is also the off-topic section. Its the first track I've released, and its more of my own introduction to the industry, an expression through the artistry of Hip-Hop, a sort of retro take on things (hence the old school instrumental).

Artist name is Verbiage, btw. You can read more about my first time in the studio (and some more shit about me) on my blog, www.theverbiage.tumblr.com

UPDATE 1/8/12

Slideshow video track for "Decision". Listen and download it here as well.

And another track I had also recorded, "Transformer". Download link is in video description.

UPDATE 1/15/12

New track, recently recorded freestyle to J. Cole's "Nobody's Perfect". Download link is in video description:

Never knew (or realized your sig) that u produced. I got a chance to hear the stuff from your sig but Decision didn't load up on my iPhone. I give you props man you have a nice sound and there's a lot of potential. Just keep working hard at it if that's what you love.

What equipment do you use to make the beats?

I use Reason 4.0 (I know there's a newer version I just haven't been into it at all lately but I plan on getting back in soon enough). With reason I have an M-Audio Pro 61es midi keyboard. I also use Recycle whenever I feel like making sampled music (I do both original and sampling).

If I get a chance to upload anything I'll let you hear. I don't have any music shit online, which is stupid, but I plan on making my own YouTube channel.

Edit: just realized I didn't mention I use an iMac and I have KRK limited edition 6" Rocket studio monitors.

Thanks a lot bro, yeah I actually changed the link just now in my sig to my blog, since that's more all-inclusive than just my bandcamp page. But check it out when you get on a computer, that's the first track I've put out. I've been using FL9 for forever lol, so I've decided to master that software rather than trying to jump into something else right now.

I use Adobe Audition to section off my samples but I actually do all of the cutting directly in FL Studio. I've got an M-Audio too, but a KeyRig 49 lol. Had an Axiom before that. I love the Reason brasses.

But yeah man most def, just PM me and let me know. I've got a YouTube channel that I've never used rofl, but I guess now I've got stuff to put on there. And I actually don't have my monitors anymore, dude I used to make beats with that I don't talk to anymore has them at his house now (long story), but I do have some super Shure SRH440's that replicate sound ridiculously well; they make listening to music an entirely new experience.

That means a shitload. I know you're VERY familiar with Hip-Hop and that we do have similar tastes, so to have the approval of someone that knows what distinguishes something is very comforting. Lol. And I am definitely doing nothing other than writing. I've got something I'd like to put out in the first couple months of next year (an EP) consisting of nothing but my own beats, and I'm working with another ridiculously talented producer that I went to high school with; we just recently linked back up again and he wants to put out a project together, as well. We will see what happens.

I don't dance, doe.

I can't stop smiling reading all of this, I always feared E90post criticism.

But thanks a lot!! I've gotten that a few times (car comment haha). And I'm definitely going to be keeping it up.

You remind me of Trey Songs lol, check out his new mix tape. The new rap showing you're articulate, not bitches and money and slurring with words you made up.

I know many hip-hop heads are missing the old school rap, old school beats with little to no computer interference. Write poetry, use syntax your fans would understand, but use grammar and diction a poet could understand. That's your niche, bring back the Tupac days and use your music to voice the times of today, might get you many followers.

You're a Lupe/Trey Songz hybrid. Not trey songs panty music either, he can rap.

Wow. I was really looking forward to smashing it but that's some solid shit right there! Really smooth beat and the lyrics are on par with, if not better than, most of what's currently out there. Best of luck to you!

Funny thing is I always get people who approach me and actually say I look identical to him. I kinda see it now now, after a while.

But he is actually very articulate, kinda made me laugh a little when I heard him and Chris Brown rap for the first time, since they're known for their R&B prowess. But Tremaine is very good at both, while also sticking to the subject matter. I try to mix articulation with the shit I've actually got experience, rather than some shit that people with real MONEY/jail time/etc have experienced.

And the instrumental I chose was a throwback, but I don't mind the other, newer beats (lots of the ones I have made consist of synthesizers and such) but that's just a change reflective of the times. I also have samples that I've done that would be just as fitting on a Raekwon album or something like that.

Those comparisons are real nice man haha, Lupe (OLDER Lupe, lol) is definitely an artist to look up to, and I want bitches like Trey Songz. I'm not trying to be anything super legendary, just tired of a lot of the shit I'm hearing and I know that I've got some more relative shit to say that people can actually understand. Shit that people may actually stop to listen to. That > record sales/radio play, in my opinion.

LOLOL I know most people are immediate skeptics when people say that they rap, or whatever. And I expect that. Which is why I said that I'd let my music do the talking for me. But I'm really happy that you like it, I try to distinguish myself a bit with my.. verbiage.

I really liked it.

Only thing I would like to see is the beat changed up, to make it swing more.

Thanks bro! But yeah about that.. LOL. Its an instrumental so it just loops for a little over 2 minutes, but I really liked it so I wrote to what was available on it. If it was my own beat I'd be able to manipulate it, but it isn't.
