Introducing Jubilee
So I've been on this forum for a few months now, mostly to learn enough to make an educated decision about buying an M3. I've wanted an M3 for about 15-20 years, but being in the Navy moving every three years, life, and finances always put it a little out of reach. I finally retired from the Navy and have the means to make it happen.
My search was pretty basic. i wanted a lowish mileage E92 under 25K. It had to be a 6MT. That was about it. I was hopeful to find something with the rod bearings done, maybe the TAs, but I was willing to do the RBs if I found the right car. I primarily focused my search on here and my brother-in-law is a wholesale used car dealer so he was on the look out for me. I ended up finding an 09 from a forum member in Charleston, SC for 28K. 55k miles, Dinan badged with an back-end exhaust, suspension, CF intake, under pulley kit, and pedals. Also sitting on HRE R43s with MPSSs. Also the rod bearings were done within 2k miles along with the TAs and spark plugs. Additionally, the last owner had a GT3 CF lip put on along with a high kick CF rear spoiler. It was a bit over budget especially after having to pay Maryland taxes, but it was the right car and it called to me. So I made the trip to SC on my birthday last week, did a PPI, and made the transaction. Needless to say, I am more than thrilled with the purchase. These cars are beasts and I really had no idea. For those of you that cautioned me to not super charge out of the gate, I appreciate it. I'm sure down the road I will, but for now, I'm having a blast. As to the car's namesake, Jubilee is a raven that lives at the Tower of London. I met him on vacation last year. I'm a huge animal lover, and crows and ravens are one of my favorite creatures. They are super inquisitive, intelligent, and a bit mischievous. I'm certainly two of the three. They can also be loud, sometimes obnoxious, and like to be the center of attention on occasion; all of which are most certainly characteristics which can be attributed to me. I also think the are all very fitting of an M3. Obviously crow would be a very uninspired name. I live near Baltimore, but I am the farthest thing from a sports fan, so avoided Raven in the hopes of steering clear of any of those converstations. So I landed on Jubilee. I think it's very fitting. I've never named any of my cars before, but I plan on keeping this one and continuing on with upgrading the car, so I figured I might as well give him a name. Also a big thank you to Matt@AUTOcouture for giving me his thoughts on the car and helping me make my mind up that this was a good deal and I could pull the trigger. In fact, I plan to have a discussion with him at MPact this coming weekend about the car's future. So if you plan on attending MPact next week and see us around, say hello. |

Fitting name of Jubilee! But for its actual definition for celebrating a big moment. Retiring from the Navy!

Cool story man. Nothing looks as mean as JB! I'm no animal expert but crows are very smart. My wife and I helped a young one that hurt its wing once. We named him Lawrence lol. We helped him for about 5 days and released him where we found him. He stuck around the area for another year and paid visits to our balcony daily. He'd sit there on the railing but fly away if we opened the door. If we didn't open the door he'd be there daily from 3pm-6pm. Welcome to the forum and the car looks great!
