I was able to get an extra front plate in really good shape. Figured why not?
I made a front plate for my E46 track car. Tested for the last 8 months, it’s still working! So I decided to make an E90 plate using an infusible core. So here it is… 8.2lbs vs 4.6lbs! It is about the same stiffness as the aluminum plate by my very unscientific test of standing on it.

I’m still working out the fasteners for the underbody panels and jack point. And then it will be time for a test fit tomorrow.
I need a 3” hole saw to cut out the front opening. I will test fit and see if it works as is. I think it should.

The attached pic is from my E46 plate which is 8 months old and has already been removed a couple of times. Possibly. Didn’t think there would be much interest in this.

Plate is done! Test fit complete and hardware installed.
I installed the jack pad with some steel rivets I had laying around and then realized there is an OE part # for the rivets. I used stainless rivet nuts to hold on the front engine screening.

I like doing this so I would be willing to make more. I want to make one more and do some things differently. I used a core material except around the edges. I laid up 3 extra layers of 2x2 twill fabric between the bolt holes.
I want to use a unidirectional fabric between the bolt holes instead of a 2x2 twill which will add twice the stiffness vs a 2x2 twill at the same weight. Once I decide on a final layup schedule then I can probably knock one out per week depending on availability of supplies.

Subbed... Hell yes! I might be bugging you about CF projects, I'm in the research mode to get started fabbing some fiber parts.

I ran the numbers. Worst case here. If I can get at least 8 paid up, price would be around $900. The most I can do is 12, pricing would be around $800.
Even worth exploring?

I'd give this a very serious look if you produced a few more.

bigjae1976 doing some vacuum bag CF work. Brings me back to the autoclave days using frozen prepreg to layup B2 parts. That's some really cool work you've done. I'm impressed.
I probably still have carbon fiber slivers in me. Hate working with that stuff. Be careful cutting it. Use respiratory protection please. The biggest problem with this is how would you show it off to your friends at cars and coffee?

have no idea how any of this works but it's really cool that you can make your own CF part

I wear a respirator, glasses, and coveralls. I probably should wear a full face. Right now, cutting CF is not bad at all. When its 100 degrees outside? Sucks balls. I have to do it outside because you don't want that stuff getting into the house. It's not lost of me that a big reason for putting CF parts on is to impress other guys. Which is why I don't think this would be a big seller. But hey...I'll put it out there. It usually goes... Facebook Muscle Guy: Oh that's awesome, can you make more? Me: Yes, I have the mold Facebook Muscle Guy: How much? Me: $1000 Facebook Muscle Guy: Bruh, can you do $300? I have a mold. $1000 for a one-off part.

This is really nice!
I was planning on getting a custom splitter that would replace the entire undertray and go back pretty far to I think the back of the engine. Would I need to run both the splitter and this reinforcement plate?

You might be able to make it one piece but the splitter is probably going to be lower than the reinforcement plate. You probably want to make that two pieces for a lot of reasons - cost, serviceability, getting car onto tow trucks/trailers, but most of all when you damage the splitter its less costly to replace.
