Looks like that specific link provided illegal info, so we had to go ahead and delete the posts along with it.

Thanks for your understanding, friends.

Does anyone know where I can purchase an affordable helmet for use on the track? I really wanted to pick one up locally, and stay away from ordering.

Also, where's a local place to get my car teched?

(I know Blake's gonna chime in )

Thanks for any help possible.

i ordered my helmet from jegs, but my suggestion is to rent a helmet at MSR first before you buy one. if you're not going to get into it, there is no point in spending $3-400+ on a helmet if it's just going to collect dust. but if you must, go pay a visit to motion cycle sports in the garland area. they have a lot of helmets. any motorcycle shop would be your best bet to find a helmet. save coin and order though

if you decide to order a helmet, i suggest you also get a precise tire pressure gauge and a decent enough torque wrench. pretty common "track starter kit."

I've got an Arai GP-5 and Blake has a point that if you're not planning to get really into it, $1000 is too much for a helmet. I got the Arai, b/c I eventually want to race wheel to wheel in PCA or something like that and my helmet has HANS connectors.

Where are you going to run Nawaaz? I'm about to get off for a two week break and my NT-01s should be sitting in the garage waiting with my M

$3-400?? I was thinking about $75. If you have a used one, I'll throw it in the washer to get the sweaty-ness out.

Ok fine, I'll just rent one while at the track.

There Are Helmets & There Are Helmets

Before you buy, check to find out what the organization/track that you are running with requires certification wise. BMWCCA requires Snell 2000 (M or SA) or later certification. I haven't had a motorcycle for a long time and don't know what the latest standards are or what is available. It's best not to skimp on a helmet. You only have one head (the last time I looked anyway).

Even if you buy online, you should try them on locally. The fit needs to be snug.

Thanks for that info, Cal.

I checked what Eagles Canyon requires: Snell 2000 or 2005 rated M or SA helmet

I think I'll just rent a helmet for $10.

Later in the future when I become much more invloved in track events, I'll gift myself with a fancy, spancy helmet.
