Lucky BMW driver.

WOW The article failed to mention that along with the scratch on his arm he had a large brown stain on his pants. Time to go buy a lottery ticket. |

Yikes! Lucky indeed.
My niece had a deer come in through the windshield after being hit by the car in front of her and coming over the roof of that car. She escaped with no injuries. The deer flailed away in the back seat of her car until it died. Totaled her car from the inside. |

The driver is really lucky to have go away with just a scratch. I know someone who was killed instantly when a pole fell on his car. He was driving through a construction area when this happened. The tweet is quite apt when it says "always be alert to our surroundings."

I love how the firefighter's twitter caption was: "Reminder Always be alert to your surroundings. Solo driver SB280 escaped with only a scratch #sjfd #sanjose #bmw"
If you're driving on a highway and that sh*t comes flying at you from a car in front of you, I don't think being aware will really help... being lucky and maybe good reflexes...

I always get around/avoid trucks that have stuff hanging out of the back, even if it is tied down or enclosed somehow

I was following a truck loaded with junk car parts up a hill years ago. An entire solid rear axle fell off, complete with leaf springs. It all happened in very slow motion so I had lots of time to mosey around the thing.
