I ordered a quick fit pro for the R55. I guess if it fits one E92 it should fit another right?

they wouldn't let you run with the one for the R55/56/57 mini as it is not specifically for the E92?

no, at all. regs dont allow for straps that connect into belt points for fear you submarine in an event.

that is odd as the Schroth is specifically designed with ASM technology.

Can you install the Schroth Ralleye harness? Or does NASA say no to 4pts period?

So what difference would it make it Schroth comes out with the BMW model in this case? Since the harness itself will be identical, if NASA won't let you run with straps that connect into belt points, what would it matter?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding...

They didn't like 4 point mounts strapped to Oem hardware. (The angle convo, no need to rehash that)
I'll keep trying and review their hpde and racing reg books.

I asked the same question at the PCA Schattenbaum event 2 weeks ago, they too will not allow this solution to pass tech. They disallow all 4pt solutions, regardless of ASM.

My two cents.

I just installed my Quickfit Pro R55 today and I two felt that the amount of slack on the left side of the lap belt was insufficient if using the seat belt anchor point as described by adc on page 11 of this thread. This was causing the buckle to sit off-center in order to provide adequate lap restraint.

So I decided to used the left seat-rail rearward anchor bolt as shown below. Works much better and now the buckle is centered and the lap belt is nice and snug.

Hope this helps.

And a shot of the rear. All looks great. I am pretty happy with the setup and look forward to my first track day with it next week.

This is so cool... an interesting alternative.

Please let us know how it works out. I might change to this setup before my first track day...

Thanks guys. I am pretty optimistic this will work great for me.

Since HMS told me that the E9X M3 seats have been tested to be strong enough (that's why they recommend the Rallye 4, in addition to the Rallye 3, as the back straps angle downward towards the back) and the buckles seem to be an exact fit with the E9X buckles, I am pretty sure the official E9X Quickfit harness will be pretty much the same as the R55.

I installed mine on my E90 and the fit is perfect. Install takes about 10 minutes initially, then about 30 seconds to click it in and out. This is a perfect compromise for not needing a harness in the car all the time and being able to quickly put the child seats in/harness out or harness in/child seats out.

Did you use the alternate anchor location under the seat rail?

Had my first track day at the Ridge with the QuickFit Pro harness attached to the seat bolt as shown above. Works very well. Really happy with it. I also bought a Necksgen neck restraint system and the two work well together. Two thumbs up!

This really is a great idea. I switched my mounting as you described above, and the harness fits so much better now. The buckle is centered and low, and the lap belts finally sit low and snug. The whole harness/HANS combo is so much tighter and secure now. Worked like a charm at NJMP over the last two days. Thanks for the tip.
