Heres a update for you guys,
Just got off the phone with BMW NA, they said that the car was in final stage of production today, quality and to check everything is ok, so its very likely that its totally complete! And my OC does show M-DCT now too.

Interesting article on BMW Car Club of America...
http://stage.bmwcca.org/forum/showthread.php?t=327 Says the double clutch gear box will make its debut on the CONVERTIBLE and then later on the coupe and sedan. Hope that doesn't mean that the cars already built with DCG will sit in port until the convertible is released...that could get ugly! |

There's no way they are going hold our coupes until the verts come out. That article is wrong. The same info has been printed elsewhere.
They wouldn't have built the coupes first if they weren't going to sell them first. That doesn't make good business sense.

Impossible. I'd be pissed. Anyway, just spoke to a BMW rep and my car has completed production and on its way to the port. He said I should have my car in 31 days. I'm sure that's just a guess for him but it doesn't sound like a bad one. That would put me at first week of April which is kind of what I've been expecting.

I called today and BMW said my car is in the final stage ( quality check etc..) so it might even have been completed today. The BMW rep said the next step is that my car would then get on a train to transport it to the port of exit where would wait until it is shipped. Anyone here this as well?
BTW...When I called the 800-831-1117 number where I got an automated report of where my car was in the production process...it stated "in the paint shop" which is clearly not up to date. Make sure to always talk to a live BMW rep to get the realtime update. Last edited by Mx3; 03-09-2008 at 11:28 PM.. |

I think the confusion on the "launch" being in the Vert is the following. The first media images, advertisements and movies about M-DCT were all showcasing it in the Vert. It was just a way for BMW to announce the production of the tranny previously described in the long technical document describing it. It also makes sense to talk about the two together becuase there is a match of sorts between the DCT and the Vert. In general those with a less true motorsport type of interest in the M3, and those more concerned with looks over performance will be drawn to the Vert. Similarly the interest in an "automatic" will probably be higher among those serious about the Vert. Again not making any blanket statements nor conclusions about any one future owner, just observing some likely trends.
Since the Coupe and Sedan will be released slightly before the Vert and based on how far along many members cars are in the production process there is simply no way we will see Verts with DCT in the US before Coupes. BMW has just chosen an interesting definition of "launch". |

http://www2.nykline.com/home/index.html You can check the schedules by port of exit and entry. I'm not sure if you can find exact times but you can find the exact days.
