Trackmaster Droid App
I noticed that there is not a thread here on Trackmaster, so I figured I'd start one to get opinions on how best to use it etc.
I bought the app and have not used it yet. It looks to be excellent. I ordered a Qstarz 818XT bluetooth GPS and a samsung mount for my nexus. Does anyone know if I need to take video with the phone or if I can easily overlay the data with GoPro video? I'm also confused about OBD port use. |

It doesn't work. Several of us have complained about this already (look in the trackaroo feature request forum). The developer claims that most Android phones do not have enough power to process both video and OBDII data simultaneously and he's afraid to turn the OBD feature on only for a subset of phones to avoid negative feedback from the ones that purchase the app without paying attention to this requirement. We have provided a few recommendations to him, let's see where this goes. |

ok, since you mentioned it, yes, you can simultaneously run Torque for the OBD data and trackmaster for GPS and video. To sync the data you need an identifiable visual point that will also show up on OBD, usually 2 fast rev ups. Too much work IMO, all of this should be handled by 1 app.

FYI, when I used my Android phone, I used "aLapRecorderHD". I know it does video and OBD2 logging and I have done overlays with it.
Friend who introduced me to it has since switched to using Trackmaster and I assumed he was still doing OBD logging, but I guess not.

I really like how it has tons of tracks preprogramed, including Barber where I'm going in 10 days. I'll post a review of the app after Barber with video integration. I got the Qstarz 818xt gps because the stock gps is only accurate to 100 feet at 90mph and the qstarz is 10 feet at 90 mph. 1 Hz vs. 10Hz.

In terms of the Trackmaster app's accuracy when combined with the QStarz 818XT, I can report that it is consistently within 6/100ths of the times recorded by my AMB 260x transponder. I saw no difference in accuracy between having the 818XT external GPS set on 1hz or 10hz.

Set the GPS to 5Hz through the trackmaster config. You can see the missing G force data at 1Hz and the inaccurate positional data due to the lower sampling rate, lap time is not affected.
Used the Nexus 7 instead of my phone yesterday for the first time, trackmaster is very responsive on the Nexus and I didn't have to worry about the battery all day. |
