You do realise, IF that happens, the M2 GC will have a 2.0L 4cyl and xdrive only.

Keeping the RWD platform would have opened the 2er GC to 6-cyl engines, which I'm sure would've been appreciated as well.

As it is, there's just too much overlap between the 1er sedan and this 2er GC.
There is only overlap if both are available. The 1er sedan is only sold in China and Mexico AFAIK, and I doubt it will ever be released in Europe or North America.

Ohhh wrong hood line placement..... AGAIN!

It seemed to have been fixed with the G-Series.... but now it seems that the FWD G-Series will retain that awful hood line. Audi also makes FWDs but doesn’t end its hood in the middle of nowhere!

This is FWD! It's just a BMW badge on a revisited Mini platform. It's basically a BMW Jetta. An abomination really.

2.0L 4cyl pumping out 350 HP would be nice. Include the xdrive layout and 6-speed tranny, we now have an Audi RS3 and CLA45 AMG fighter. I could also throw the WRX Sti in the mix, but in terms of luxury and refinement Subaru doesn't stand a chance to its German rivals.

BMW would have to make atleast a 400hp 4cyl M2 GC to compete with the next CLA45 and RS3. It's about time they make a powerful 4cyl. The B48 is a good base engine for them to make a S48. But I doubt it will ever be as good as a 6cyl S55 in the M2 Competition.

People already crash their F8x cars too much because they can't handle the low end torque from the turbo.

When that turbo in the 's48' hits you along with that short wheelbase of the 2series it'll be a real nice surprise.

It's not going to be RWD. You don't see people crashing their RS3 because they can't handle the torque.

The F44 2er Gran Coupe and 1er Sedan will be FWD/AWD. While the G42 2er Coupe is rumored to be RWD and should look drastically different to the gran coupe. No spyshots of the G42 yet to prove though.

Is there any other brand that just completely poops all over a model designation as thoroughly as BMW?

A 2 series can be:

A weird Minivan sort of thing 2AT
A fwd sedan with a hatch, that they call a coupe 2GC
An actual coupe that's rwd and can even be an M car 230i, M240i and M2C
A rwd soft top convertible too

All that's missing is a panel van
