Good is pretty subjective but if it's anything like the S63 world, people are doing "good" work there.
GTR vs. F8x M cars is almost apple to oranges... unless you really think the GTR is luxurious and sporty at the same time.

It will be exciting to see what the tuners come up with. I agree, though, a tune won't be available right away. It will take some time. Look how long it took E9x M3 to get to 600 whp. Years!!

That's a long read for sure.
I still think tuning will get a good amount of extra power out of the car. I wouldn't mind changing out the stock turbos to get that power either. All that said, I'm never the first one to get a mod. I let others be the beta testers!!

Not a big fan on the new Ms but you all know I'm a Porsche guy .
If anything the M may have a few things like the new F30 has where you can plug in like a small piggy back. As of right now with the type of encryption BMW has put on the new F30 335s this encryption has not been broken, as you need a different key every time for the checksum which currently only BMW has the key. People have been trying including some of the bigger companies and local tuners in our area, and nobody has been able to hack the F30 335 ecu. If BMW puts this same type of encryption on the new M's it will be very hard to break as well. Also, look at the N55 DME for builds of March 2013 or later, as no one has been able to break that DME. Cobb has been trying but hasn't had success yet. I'm sure it will be a very fun car either way though and very fast!! |

Just make it that whenever you change the code on the chip, to notify BMW and they void your warranty But to sell me a car and limit what I can so with it doesn't seem right If all they care about is not having to fix a blown motor because of aftermarket tuning, then just void the warranty if you mess with it But why limit what I can do with the engine, if I'm willing to cover the costs?

It's basically a highly tuned n55 So you're not going to get that 80+ hp 335 owners were getting with a chip flash Sure once you start replacing turbos and inter coolers etc you will get gains But that still doesn't mean its a highly tunable motor Any motor will put out more power if you're willing to replace half the parts

Boring is an understatement. Not a fan at all. So I went the Porsche route, a company that's been doing turbo's for awhile.

GT3s are sky high right now. I think that's a bubble that's going to burst once the new one is really out.

This 2006 GT3 is very tempting thought as it's only going for $85k with 23k miles. |

M3 + M4 at the Philly car show
Went to the Philly car show and saw both the 3+4. I sat in the M3 . The seats are amazing. The interior is more luxurious than the current E9x but not necessarily better. I still can't get use to the nav screen sitting on top the dash.
The M3 was black and the M4 the gold/green color you see in all the pics on line. It wouldn't be my choice in color. The new headlights are definitely an upgrade. The exterior design was nice but not that much different in my opinon than the current E9x. The front and rear bumpers will probably start growing on me once I see them out in the real world for a while. I tried to strike up a conversation with one of the salesman but I was very unimpressed with his knowledge of the car. All things said they both are pretty nice cars but it remains to be seen how well they will compete with the new corvette and even the new mustang which both offer more bang for the buck........I think i'll hold on to my e92 for a while. |
