$42 Rotors on RockAuto?

Looks like rockauto has added more rotors for the E9x chassis, $42 a rotor...

Anyone try these yet? I run the $35 e46m3 rotors but centric on my E36 (bbk), with no issues.

That's freaking cheap! I don't think they are cross drilled... But still who cares at 40 each.

Make up for cheap rotors by using some aggressive/abrasive pads. Haha

Wow that is silly cheap! Someone buy these and do some testing! I would imagine for DD purposes they'll hold up just fine.

I only run blanks on my track car and have never had issues. A friend of mine needs rotors (I think), so hopefully he orders them!

They are one piece iron rotors,don't have aluminium hub like oem two piece rotors.Little weight difference,good for street use.

Apparently cheap one piece blanks are now available. Good deal for track people who chew up rotors or people who want to maintain on a budget.

I put cheap rotors on my wife's mini van with the OEM pads. There is a lot more brake dust. I wonder if the rotor is made of a softer material or not heat treated properly.

I don't approve. Rotors last tens of thousands of street driven miles, no reason to cheap out on them with a one piece iron rotor setup. These aren't ideal for track use either...

Many trackers use cheap blank rotors because they are much cheaper and stop fine.

If you do feel the need for cheaper semi 2 piece drilled rotors someone just posted a link to a dealer selling them for $354 a pair shipped. Cheapest price I have ever seen.

I would not recommend using cheap one piece rotors for track use because they are not cross drilled and no aluminum hub does not dissipate heat like oem ones.You will end up with warped rotors and hot spots within 10 min which will give you bad brake pulsation and steering wheel shake.

Cross drilling is 100% cosmetic.

In a perfect world, someone would offer a factory sized slotted rotor instead.

Very true.

We used cheap rotors for 1 endurance race with our Integras and they were done after 24 hours. Like I mean DONE.

Next year we used good Brembo rotors (double the price of the jobbers but still cheap, cause they are for 1998 Acura Integras ). After 48 hours of racing with proper race pads, the rotors are still fine. Still solid iron rotors, not slots.

Great point. Why, with a $60,000+ car are people worried about spending $1,000 on rotors every 4-5 years?

And if you are a serious track rat with an E9x M3, you likely have already spent a few large on a BBK (with proper SLOTTED or solid rotors).

What does the used price of a car have to do with maintenance costs? Brakes for an Audi RS7 with the ceramic package are $7,000 per rotor. That will not come down in price as the value of the car depreciates.

If people want a cheap car to maintain, buy a Honda.

If someone buys a car for $25k because they are on a tight budget and it needs new rotors and they have the choice between spending $200 for a set or $1000 for a set, they may decide that the $200 set fits their budget. Certainly for many parts, there is not a cheaper option and buyers should consider future maintenance costs when buying. But it looks like brakes are no longer one of those “no option but to spend $1000” maintenance items.

You may be very rich or simply have nothing to spend your money on but your car. I am not in either situation. I bought my car used to save money, shop carefully for parts to save money, and do all my own work to save money. And I detest “M snobs.”

Many don't track their cars, I've seen them in person, they are decent 1 piece rotors for the price. They are made by an OEM supplier, I don't see how any supplier making brakes can make something unsafe, they'd have big law suits on their hands.

Will they decipate heat as much as stock floating rotors, no.
Will they last as long as stock floating rotors, no.
Will they stop the car safely. Yes.
