No, this was the closest I've come to that. It's from the rear deck and I made a shaving catcher on the drill.

I forget exactly because it's almost always combined with sound deadening removal. Actual holes/shavings- maybe a couple of pounds. Nothing crazy, but I'm having fun.
I only have holes in the doors, the center console support bracket, the rear seat brace, rear deck, trunk side arches, rear exhaust bracket, and hood latch bridge.

One day you'll be typing "I only have holes in..." and have a real oh shit.

I'll guess I'll start talking about what I couldn't optimize when that time comes. lol

Sorry for the thread jack, but I figure all our goals are aligned and just want to get through 2020.

We can talk about anything you want.

I have removed 600 lbs from curb weight from car. How close do you reckon you are to this number?

I think the rough guess was around 300 lbs, but that's the low hanging fruit. I still have a ton of stuff to get rid of. These things I do make it seem like I'm getting rid of everything, but I'm just having fun with some "free" mods in the garage.

Any good weight loss stories to share?

I think we will see two more people move into TT3 thanks to some coaxing from me. For ECR, we might want to ask the TT4 guys to move up to 3...

Some of those TT4 guys are pretty fast so let's just ask the slow ones

That's good! Sorry my car is probably not legal at the moment with the way it is setup and I haven't done my check-ride but maybe I'll get the car dyno'ed and come play next year.

Chase appears to be bringing his Civic Type R to ECR, so I think you have a good shot.

You can just come run in TTU at ECR in December.

I can see that I have not met my goals yet. But I have met some milestones anyway:

DSC=off entire season (big step for me)
NYST 1:35.9 on take off 235/35/19 R7
NYST 1:36.02 on max performance tires
PMP: wanted to do sub 2 minutes did 1:50.9
LRP: 60.9 on max performance tires
Drifted for the first time at LRP car control clinic (CCC)

Oversteered once off the track at NYST and did not like it.

In the spirit of '20 review, as a whole it was a shit show to say the least.

But given where I started narrowly escaping totaling my car (Here) I'm very happy with my progress.

As you'll see I'm very much a novice, but my 2nd season tracking was awesome and some highlights:
  • 11 days exclusively at High Plains in Colorado
  • No nannies (DSC, M modes, etc).
  • First season on R comps (RR then NT01)
  • Dropped 10 seconds off my laps from the start of the season but most importantly gained comfort and consistency lap/lap
  • Improved braking technique (pressure, trail, and lift)
  • More attuned to under/oversteer and feeling impacts from directing the weight
  • Gas at apex and generally not before
  • Comfort with reviewing my data and video
  • Put faces to some of the users-names on this forums dogbone fsmtnbiker Melchior JScheier

Of course, lots of work to be done both over the winter on my car and more importantly driving skill:
  • Braking too early and softly at times, managing threshold vs ABS engagement. See GPS map below.
  • Shifting, mostly location needs work as I get more capable at hill/toe. Lots of shifting exiting the tight corners vs being in the right gear at entry.
  • Some coasting / driving gingerly from point to point. Confidence!
  • Assessing which corners to carry speed vs brake/rotate/gas

Last Sunday was my last day of the season. Very happy with the consistency. Fastest lap was 2:02 but more proud of back to back 2:03s with traffic, etc.

A far cry from Melchior, Chris, and Gabe... But I'm getting there.

I have been trying to shove 2020 into a bag of rice in the hopes it'll fix it.

I've driven about 12k miles this year an have absolutely zero track miles again...

Maybe next year. I'm strongly considering retiring at which point I will have a little free time on my hands. Now? Not so much. I live vicariously through you all.

TT is on my list for next year.
For now I'll just come and play in HPDE4 on Saturday and see if I can't keep chipping away at a 2:04 or 2:05. Data says a 2:02.9 is out there for me so I just need to drive it! lol

In the spirit of goals this year most of the big out-of-state events I had planned outside of Hallett got cancelled or got slashed out of my spending budget thanks to Covid so I'm just going to hit the reset button and set a new list for 2021. I met my personal goas this year which is what really matters, so driving can be this next year. Perhaps it's time for us to start a new 2021 Goals thread soon??

As I've always said, TT is your best bet if you want to run a lot of "unobstructed" laps. A standard 20-30 minute HPDE session will result in at least 25% of your laps being aborted due to traffic. In TT, it's pretty much zero.

Plus, getting a rabbit up front might be the last nudge you need for a 2:05!

What Dan says. TT session is way more fun than DE4.
