And they say BMW drivers are DBs?

Couldn't believe this one. Plate frame says driving Chevys since 1953. Wonder how many times he's been keyed.

As a BMW and Vette owner (does that make me a double DB?) while I don't condone it you can't blame someone for trying to protect their very expensive car. It only takes a bit of incompetence for a door ding to rear its ugly head but it takes a very malicious person to key your vehicle. Statistically he is less likely to have his car damaged even while parking like an arse than if he just parked normally all the time.

Hmm never thought about that. You are probably right. Chances are higher that he'll get an asshole note stuck on his window or windshield.

There appears to be ample parking spaces, not a big deal. Now if it were a packed mall parking lot, I might be compelled to fart on his car.

Reminds me of a few years back when my buddy went to Best Buy during the holidays. Packed lot but a Caddy near the store was taking two spots.

As my friend walked by the car he said "look at that asshole parking like that". Just as he said it a big, tall, 250+ pound guy says, "you got a problem with the way I parked".

My buddy, all of 5'6" took the 5th and continued the store.

Many things here:

1) Notice the car to his left is clearly also taking up multiple spots and it's a shit box.
2.) The parking lot has plenty of open parking spots and he parked far out so who cares.
3.) The cart that was left behind nearby somewhat supports his argument of shoppers not really caring about other cars.

Always park near the cart corral, preferably on the uphill side of the drive aisle to prevent wayward carts from hitting your car. Otherwise, he should've hugged a planter island instead of straddling two spots like a DB.

Itīs quite fascinating to observe some of the american mentality that shines through in posts like this. So quick to judge and shout asshole without thinking twice before you open your mouth or act (often in group), feeding the stereotypical image.. but luckily I see some individuals with more afterthought, that dont look at the above picture and wanna go on a rampage but instead make a few observations and then make up their mind bout it..

None of this is directed at the OP but I don't understand why people get upset at someone else's parking. Crowded lot and taking 2 spaces, yes, I can understand that. However, most cases are like this where he is clearly in the far end of the lot and there are plenty of other spaces. Why should it be of anyone else's concern? The driver, probably like many of us here, takes pride and time in caring for the vehicle. Countless drivers just swing open the doors of their rust buckets w/o any care or concern, "It's just a car...". Grinds my nerves because I have a ding and a scratch on my ML that's gonna cost approx $300 to fix. The money isn't the issue, it's the principle of coming out of my pocket for someone else's carelessness and 2 days w/o my car while it's at the body shop. And on the other hand, park in a manner and away from everyone to protect your property, now you're an a$$hole and a DB. So here comes the vigilantes who, instead of going about their business, now goes out of their way to key the car, block it in, or squeeze next to the driver's door making it impossible to get into your car and think that it's funny. End of rant...

I once took my wife in my Z4 to the mall shopping. We parked far away from the door as usual. As a matter of fact, it was the last parking spot in the row farthest away from the door as possible. A curb on one side which I snuggly hugged and an empty space to the right. There was enough room if a old camero with those huge doors pulled up next to me and parked on the line they could open their door fully without hitting my car. This was my usualy behavior when visiting a public facility where we all shared parking. My wife and I went in and did our thing. She went to Anthropologie and Macys (at least that is what she told me) and as for me, well, I had to hit a couple mens stores. After a couple hours shopping, ready to depart the money pit known as a mall, we walked all the way across the parking lot to the car and saw a hand written note under my windshield wiper blade. I pulled it out from under the blade and read it. The note read:

"Sorry bout da skratch on ur car. I dont have no muney but giv me a call and i make it right"

then it listed the number

407 863 $^#@

The last four numbers were written so poorly and were running off the page that they were unintelligible. I bet I looked my car over for 10 minutes and couldn't find any "skratch" as they put it. Then it hit me. These jokers were in some car off in the distance watching my every move and likely laughing their behinds off. So that made me mad and I drove off in a huff leaving a patch of rubber for them to sniff.

Of course when I got home a bit later I was certainly glad I didnt have a scratch or anything. Then I reread the note a week later the whole ordeal became hilarious. I obviously still think about that day of empty pockets and steaming anger only to laugh at the situation now.

I hope you find this as funny as I did and for those who have heard me tell it before, i apologize. I posted this a while back on the Z forum, yep I still remember it even though it was over 6 years ago.

That would have been a comic relief for sure. I did the same thing in my M3 once and somebody loogied on my windshield.

IMHO whether the lot is full or empty, it shows a lack of respect for decorum and displays a sense of entitlement.

This. If the lot is empty, you don't need to park askew and dare people not to park next to you. If you park far enough out, most people get it and won't park right next to you. You're out there with the other people who also want to protect their cars.

Within the lines you're playing by the rules. But if you park askew, you're DARING someone to say something.

What observation and contemplation do you need? He's parked in 4 spaces.

I thought the stereotypical Swede likes order and to not think he is better than anybody else. Maybe you secretly would like to park that way.
