M3 Servicing

Hi,

i'm looking to buy a second hand M3 (2007 or 2008) and am wondering about the running costs i.e. servicing.

How much does a service cost, whats the service schedule etc.

Thanks,

Ian

Had mine for 27 months now. Had the 1200 mile service within a month, that was built into the price so was free.

First proper service was at two years old. They did oil/filter, etc as well as brake fluid....cost was about £500 with a bit of discount

Tyres are about 250-300 per corner

Fuel and insurance are your biggest costs!

The major service is at around 30,000 and includes engine, diff and trans oil plus plugs. Costs about £800. Then u have a brake fluid change every couple of years at about £100. Not sure about the interim service as mine had that included. So it's not too bad to run. Tyres are expensive I guess. I use my daughter's diesel polo for commuting to work to save on the Uk fuel price. I get around 22 mpg with the M3 with not much city driving.

Main costs are ...

Tyres £300 a corner and seem to go through them quick but I guess this depends on how you drive!
Budget for winter tyres too if you intend to use it in the winter.
Servicing (not too bad but the 30K one is around £850).
Brake pads weren't due on my car until around 48K miles (not sure how much that may cost)
If you are looking at a 2007/2008 car you will need extended warranty (Comprehensive cover is £87/month)
Insurance
Road Tax
Fuel (lots of it the M3 has a drink problem )

My comprehensive BMW warranty was more than £87. I purchased it at 58,500 miles and its costing me £113 a month. Possibly due to it being so close to 60k, where the price increases massively.

Without a doubt. Already got to take it in to be looked at for something unusual.
