Red Line 10W60

Just noticed that Red Line now has a 10W60. Don't know how long they've had it but I don't think it has been very long. Haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but maybe I missed it. Has anybody used it?

Nice find. Like their products. Ran it in my mustang for years.

your engine is probably not going to break if you use it but i dont think u'd get any additional performance from using red line oil. so whats the point of the switch? might as well stick with oem castrol 10w60.

yea, i think you'll be fine using redline for top offs. they have a reputation for making good products.

i usually buy castrol 10w60 from dealers like tischer, i always keep a few extra bottles of oil at home in case i need it for top ups. the oil costs a little more than red line but i'd rather stick to oem when it comes to something that goes in the engine.

I'm not too worried about it breaking. I used Red Line in my old 330i (10W40) and really liked it. I changed my own oil halfway in between BMW's changes, (as I do now with my M) so I was going from Castrol to Redline, back to Castrol, back to Redline, so I got a lot of chances to compare and I swear I could tell the difference. Not performance wise, but it seemed like the engine just ran smoother and with slightly less mechanical noise with the Red Line. I would consider the same thing now that they have the 10W60. I wouldn't drain out new Castrol for the sake of changing, but if I'm going to change my own anyway, I would consider using it based on previous experience. Just thought I would point out that it's available now and wondering if anybody has used it yet.

I do my mid service oil changes with Lubro-Moly 10w-60...we have used it on 5-6 S85's and about a dozen or so S54's and it works really well...with my S65 I noticed less oil consumption versus the Castrol 10w-60..
