Tires rubbing on fender lining? lol I use to get that when turned to far left or right but switched to 265 tire from 275 tire and no issues.

Random! How does the sound come from the front while turning then end up coming from the back? What was the need to change the diff fluid from the OEM?

I have the exact same issue. Taking the car to the dealership tomorrow.

I've already have differential fluid changed. Could be defective bearings on the front? Or bent brake shield?

Per the dealer, if the diff makes noise, then the friction additive needs to be added.

I get this sometimes also. I really thought it was my tire rubbing.

I've noticed this in many Ms. turning loud speed groaning from the front end; dealer says no problems; however, I suspect the noise is wheel bearings.

I find out red line have two different 75w140,so our car need the none NS one. Also you can buy the SAF-XJ in Mercedes , because they sell it for batter price,And the noise from the back is very normal for most of the LSD car .So dont need to worry too much if SB have the same problem again!!!!

It's started to happen to my M right after I did my brake fluid change and front tires change (with balance and alignment), and some other engine light problem which got resolved; it could be one of the above three times which caused it.

The dealership couldn't replicate the issue, which is understandable because it doesn't always happen. But once it does, most likely it happens right after a cold start. And it is more than just a sound; it feels like a grinding/wobbling sound that actually gives a kick-back feel to the gas paddle. I have no idea how to properly describe it but it makes me think the active steering is having some problem....

Another mystery for the German Engineering....

Dealer put in two new front bearings. Noise gone for good.

Fixed. Hope others find this to be helpful.
