I love Alumalite, I used it for a while with my stock bumper car before moving to a 1M front-end and decided to try out DiBond which is a bit thinner and doesn't have the rigidity of the Alumalite.

If you check out any Nasa GTS race, almost every car is running some sort of air dam coupled with an Alumalite splitter.

Almost finished with the splitter. Added some reinforcements to keep the plywood rigid, and added a steel plate where the splitter connects to the chassis mount. Will finish painting it on Wednesday, mount, add support rods in the front and possibly sides by the wheel well

Yeah I finished it up the other night. Had to add some more support rods behind the bumper in order to prevent the chassis mounts from flexing toward the rear of the car when I would push down on the front-most part of the splitter.

In the end, the product did create a simple and affordable way of mounting a splitter to the chassis, but they are just too flimsy for a track focused build. At first I thought maybe it was the plywood flexing but you could clearly see that the bottom half of the two piece mount was flexing at the point of connection to the piece that actually slides onto the chassis.

Weak point is circled in black in the first pic and you can get an idea of where I made an extra support in the third pic. I'll try and get a pic of the finished project from inside the wheel well this weekend. Taking it to big willow and praying it doesn't fly off

i see. so the adjust able point in this piece that allows for it to be adjusted up and down is the weak point...
turner has an interesting piece i was going to see if they would be wiling to sell separately- it is part of their aluminum undertray. it is a one-piece tube with mounting faces on each end... i think it would be a nice piece to cherry pick and use as a hard splitter mount.

Exactly. The piece that is connected to the frame is solid. No movement. I have the adjustable piece at the lowest position, which annoyingly allows for the highest level of flex since not much is in contact with the top piece.

I was thinking of adding an additional thick metal plate on the back of the mount to make it more rigid. If it doesn't hold up at willow, that'll be my last ditch effort. Next step would be taking it off and just welding the shit out of it

Are the support rods just going into the bumper? Do you think hard mounting those to the inner bumper rail would help?

The front ones are mounted through the bumper to the carbon crash beam. The ones on the inside of the wheel well are mounted from the L bar on the splitter up to where the hangers for the two corner sections used to connect to

Damn. I'm kinda bummed it's not as rigid as we would like. Crash beam mount workout ok? I was still planning on doing that.

Yup, no problems with mounting to the crash beam.

I learned my lesson not to tighten everything up fully until finished though. I went to undo the bolts holding the two pieces of the mount together, in order to see if I could add a metal plate for rigidity, and the head just stripped when I tried undoing it

I did some similar stuff on my EVO, based on an APR splitter that I reinforced and moved further forward. Hanging some cable s helped for sure, and although it flexed it was always very strong.

Took the car to big willow on Sunday to test out the splitter before going to Laguna Seca this weekend. At the end of the first lap, right before entering turn 1, the force on the splitter must have been too much and it bent the mounts. It's a shame these didn't work but I had fun building this little project.

Car is now at racewerkz getting it done right.

I drilled two small holes in the front subframe and mounted some 1/4in aluminum L-Brackets with self tapping screws with a few holes for adjustment of the splitter (made of Dibond, I'm going back to Alumalite though as it seems to take abuse better... more flexible). This splitter only extends 3" though, basically just a support for my air dam which is ~2.5" long.

The white pucks are sacrificial delrin skid plates that save the splitter under high Gs.

Last image shows how necessary the center splitter support is at 130mph+

Trackspec Motorsport is coming out with a chassi mounts and splitters for E92.
Similar to my car.
No front rods necessary.
Tested at ACS at 147 mph and it held perfectly

Well they are claiming that their product wasn't the weak link, which it clearly was, and won't give me a refund. I'll be sending them the parts regardless as they're useless now
