Condensation in Headlight

Hey guys just at the thread says, I recently have been getting condensation in my headlight from the rain today. I think I might know the cause but was curious if anyone could confirm. I haven’t had time to reinstall the front second of my inner fender liner and am assuming the tire is kicking up water into the drain below the headlight. Could anyone possible confirm this? Thank you. Side note though is that both fender liners are removed but only one headlight has condensation.

Maybe someone else can chime in but I always thought the headlight was a completely sealed unit with no drain meaning that if you have condensation you have a leaky seal. I could be wrong though.

Regardless you wanna get it dry in there to not cause any damage to the bulbs or corrode the connections. You can take off the top on a hot day and let it sit in the sun or take off the top and use a blow dryer.

Just noticed some condensation in the headlights today after I washed the e92. I used a hose end spray bar attachment which put out a fan pattern. Nothing as powerful as a pressure washer and I didn't focus the stream on the lights just a quick go over.
The M was just pulled out of a relatively cool garage into a 90 degree day to wash.
It was a slight haze covering about 1/3 of the lights mainly near the corners on both sides. I'm hoping it was the temp differential that caused it. It disappeared completley after about 15 min.
Will have to keep an eye out after the next wash.....

There's no drain for the lens assembly. Most likely the seal is failing.

I thought there was that weird membrane that allows it to vent and equalize, which is what prevents them from fogging up. It's this weird pink circular mark. Check for damage or debris.

Anyway, try parking the car in the direct sunlight to speed up the evaporation.

This is also happening to mine. Aside from letting it evaporate, does anyone have any DIY fixes that dont require heating up, removing the lens and resealing? What are people using for a sealant?

When I had these issues I couldn't come up with any other fixes other than taking the assembly apart and resealing. The last thing you want is for your ballast, which is mounted at the bottom of the headlight to fail due to moisture intrusion. A replacement ballast and recoding of the FRM is not cheap. Best of luck!

Try some dry desiccant packs. Sealing is the best option.

Same happened to me this past weekend. I used a pressure washer carefully and foam cannon. Noticed the same thing.
Rinsed with a reservoir of distilled water for spot free. Cleared up and I had forgotten about it until I read your post.
