IND vs. Turner
Hi all,
I had a question I thought some of you may have an opinion for me on. I need to replace my front bumper on my Alpine White 2011 e93. I've been looking at IND or Turner to do it. I noticed that Turner has one unpainted for $784: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2...d-51118046008/ They also have this Euro version: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...-front-bumper/ The IND one for $1200 unpainted and $1800 painted: https://ind-distribution.com/collect...n-front-bumper Anyone had experience with either? And why is IND more than $400? They are both genuine BMW according to them. Is there any reason to spend that much more for IND? Is the paint work from them top of the line? And do I know the paint will match? I have heard there are several variations of the Alpine White, also. Thanks all! |

I would go with a local body shop painting the euro version from Turner (or have local body shop fill/shave reflectors on my OEM bumper and paint) that way you can be pretty much certain of paint match and save some bucks.
I have heard IND painted bumpers do turn out quite well. But as these cars age the paint match probability just decreases IMO, especially if you're unsure of prior carfax or damage history, your front end may have already previously been resprayed (even if carfax was clean) making it even harder to get a blind match from IND. And then the possibility of damage with shipping a painted bumper is just an unnecessary risk. I would be unhappy dealing with trying to return or repaint a bumper that was damaged in shipping. Regarding price, IND is always more expensive. As a parts distributor, that more expensive part is coming with their customer service. They take a lot of pride in that. There are always cheaper vendors and people like to harp on IND prices a lot but they aren't just selling a product, it's the buyer seller relationship and transaction you are also paying for. So if it were me, I wouldn't get painted bumper shipped. Stick with Turner unpainted and get it done at a local body shop. I don't think the IND version is worth the extra 400 over Turner who is also a reputable vendor. I have bought from both in the past with great experiences. |
