European Blind spot mirror replacements any good ?

Does anyone know (or use) the European Blind spot Mirror replacements over here in the US ?

I don't personally have experience but after years of browsing various BMW forums I can tell you the people who get them usually really like them. Enough so that I've thought about buying them too.

Wonder if you could get used European mirrors (the entire housing and mirror) for the same or less? The price is what's held me back. Might be worth looking into.

Personally not a fan. Have never had them on any of my cars, but was in Europe for work recently and had them on my rental car. I found it a little disorienting coming from regular US style mirrors. The inner section is normal but the outer is angled and fish-eyed and I found the transition to be a problem. This may just be a problem for me persoanlly, as I could never use progressive lenses in my glasses for a similar reason. Also, due to the cost, I would never go that route. My $0.02

If you adjust the mirrors properly you can eliminate blind spots with flat mirrors. Basically setting your side mirrors aimed much further out than we learned. When done right, a car in the next lane will always be visible in rear view, side mirrors, or your peripheral vision out the window. One caveat is this only works for the immediately adjacent lanes. If you are crossing multiple lanes you still need to turn your head to look.

Not only multiple lanes, but also if your car angle is a little wide to adjacent lane too (like low speed lane changing, sharp turning, if you're entering a street at your left, and there is a f* moron overtaking you by the wrong way).

Here in Brazil we have the Euro specs, and I like the angled mirror.

So, here's the answer: The outer wideangle part of the mirror has very little utility. I don't love it. Adjusted properly, this captures a lot of the mirror housing instead of the road.

BUT, the key improvement is that the driver's mirror is wideangle like the US passenger mirror on the inner portion. This is a MASSIVE improvement.

If you're cheap, there are aftermarket mirror replacements that are just wideangle on both sides.

Thank you everyone. So do i understand it right that by default in the US the Passenger mirror is already wide angled (hence the warning) Replacing them with the Euro on both side would get rid of the wide angle on the passenger side by default and just add the Outer portion to wide ?

That is correct, the euro pieces have standard mirror except for the outer portion. I've had them installed on my E92s and very much enjoy them, however it isn't night & day difference.

so it seems the US right mirror is by default already a wide angle... i wonder if i would only need to replace the left one...

You only need to replace the driver's mirror. It'll look a little weird, though.

Sorry for going around on this, are you saying that the entire euro glass is full wideangle on the drivers side? If so, then what does the sliver on the left side do? Even more wide angle?

If the whole drivers side is wide angle then I agree its worth picking up drivers side only.

I have a set of these and they are fantastic. I love them. Huge QoL upgrade for the car and I honestly prefer them to the blind spot monitors we have in our other cars.

The euro mirror is ultrawide on the outside (left of the marks), and wide on the inside.

"wide" is equivalent to the US passenger mirror with "objects in mirror" labeling.

So yes, the budget option is definitely to just pick up the driver's mirror. It's the one that makes the real difference. The passenger mirror is primarily for cosmetic matching.

Also, if you don't care about (or don't have) auto-dimming mirrors, the non-dimming glass is WAY WAY cheaper.
