Hahahaaa, it's really easy to swap them out man. So don't stress. Also you can send in your bad ones for repair just to keep on the shelf for next time. That's what I did. I'd recommend changing them as soon as you get the reduced power warning on the cluster. This way the mosfets don't fry and it's just gears. I'd literally give it a 2 out of 10 on difficulty to do. After doing one or both once I'd say the next time would be a 1 out of 10 for ya.

Agreed, not a hard process at all. For me it felt daunting initially but once I got going it all came together. Just have the right tools and its fairly straight forward.

A Milwaukee m12 impact ratchet and stubby impact wrench made my life a lot easier. Along with some wobble extensions. Same stuff you'll need down the road when wrenching in the car anyways. Worth the investment in my eyes.

There's quite a few youtube vids of the process as well that go in to enough depth to get you to the finish line.

I wouldn't use an impact to tighten during the reassembly. The worm might just skip and not be as tight as a hand tightening process. I would recommend the flexi extender though! Makes things so easy! 6" of any angle approach helps.

My TAs failed at 46k. $1400 at the dealership. Next time I will do it myself. I keep up with oil changes, never rev high when cold, and never track it, so I'm expecting my bearings to be fine.

Does not matter how you treat it - your bearings could be too tight. No way to know until you look or until they fail...

Just had one of my TA's go out this month at 145,000 miles. Went ahead and swapped both out for safe measure. The swap was surprisingly easy. The longest part of the process is disconnecting and reconnecting all the sensors.
