Respray bumper or get euro bumper?

Sooooo I am going back and forth with either respraying my front bumper from a very reputable shop ( spectrum auto collision) here in SoCal for about $1,000 USD or getting a euro front bumper for another 7-800 bucks.

What would you guys do?

That may be the going rate in California. I was recommended to this place by a buddy of mine too, they do great work

That's expense even for California, they do great work though. I've reached out to them before. ABS quoted me roughly half—and they are very will known in the BMW community. Alpine White is pretty easy to match.

No it is not the going rate at all. You're paying double the price. A quality paintjob on these bumpers should not exceed $500. If you look hard enough you can get a good respray for as little as $250-$300, especially if you're bringing a brand new bumper that is ready for paint. this is all assuming you do the removal/install yourself.

Well my bumper is still on the car and it's painted, so there's that.. but good to know I can get a cheaper price, I'll call around to a couple more shops

I'd buy the euro bumper from Ind and have them paint it before they ship it to me

ABS Autobody? They've done a few euro bumper conversions to my friends cars and they look good. If you want to keep the "originality" but a painted Euro bumper from IND and shelve the original.

If you're painting, do a euro bumper for sure.

Edit: Also, don't spend too much painting a front bumper. It's a bumper. It's going to require periodic repainting.

also

dont spend too little, paint is really one of those things where you get what you pay for, you also want the clear they put down to match whats already on there.

I was interested in getting a respray of my rear bumper and received guidance from those whom know body and paint work (Painters, Mechanics and Restoration Experts)

I was told any quality work, meaning something that will be hard to spot even under close scrutiny, will cost at a minimum $1000. I imagine prices will vary if you remove/reinstall the bumper yourself but then quality goes out the door because there is no color match or blending occurring.

They had little to gain from sharing the information (I was not asking they perform the service)

It's worth noting that the cost of a good paint job on a *new* bumper should be much less. Why? Because the work involved comes down to clean, scuff, shoot. When you have to sand / fill / repair, that adds lots of labor.

So yes, showing up with a beat old bumper, plus R&R, etc., you're going to spend at least $1k to get it done non-shittily. For paint only on a new bumper, though, it should cost half that.

Edit: And I agree with amrazM that you don't want to spend too little. However, the penalty for cheaping out on a wear item like a bumper is a lot lower than, say, a rear quarter.

IND charges exactly $200 for shipping as well.

No, the $1200 IND bumper, w/o headlight washer cutouts, isn't painted - it's $1800 painted. If you need the headlight washer cutouts, the price is $1350 unpainted/$1950 painted.

ECS is a way better deal, and then you can choose a paint shop.

Anyone have experience with this company?

https://www.carparts.com/details/BMW...BM010333P.html

IND painted is $2000 shipped. That's a bit excessive in my opinion.

And is that paint matched? I hear there are different tones of color. I have a 2011 e93 Alpine White, yet there are at least 3 versions of the paint from what I've read. I don't even know what my version is. Do we know what they offer?
