Sounds like a loud S65. Sounds nothing like other V8's especially here in the south. Perfect tone. Lots of volume. Such a balanced sound.

Your from Raleigh, tell me a squatted Silverado with a 5.3 sounds anything like that beautiful sound!

A loud S65 of course is still a good sounding car. But that video in my opinion is far from the best S65.

This is probably one of my favorites because it's unique, has an Eisenmann type of tone. But we are all entitled to our opinions on what we think is the best S65 sounds are.

I believe this was a custom catless quad resonated Hartge sport muffler

Bimmerworld X pipe with the Bimmerworld axle back exhaust is so underrated with one of the best sounds there is.

I had Evolve X pipe with 200 cell cats and Eisenman Race and since i came from catless Arka(which was super underwhelming) I think that was the perfect combination! Eisenmann Sport is too quiet.

"Nailed"

I have the full Akra, and that's all I've ever had other than the stock setup.

I do a fair amount of highway miles and it's not too loud, actually just about right for me.

On track, there are times (whenever I'm NOT at Laguna), when I wish it was a little louder, so that I could hear the engine a little easier inside the helmet with the windows down.

But something I recently became aware of is that the exhaust noise is WAY louder when you aren't in the cabin.
I was behind another forum member (same exhaust) at a red light and he was revving it up.
It was WAAAAY louder than I ever realized from inside the car.

Even a stock exhaust is louder than you realize from the driver's seat.

I've thought about going with the Eisenmann Race after spending countless hours on the forums and getting a few listens in person. From your experience, would you consider the Eisenmann Race paired with the catted Evolve X Pipe to be obnoxiously loud or just right for a weekend car?

I've had a Meister Schaft Super GT with stock X pipe in Hawaii. Super strict on inspections. Had no problem with it passing. Great sound there.

A Macht Schnell Xpipe mated with a Meister Schaft GT2.(my favorite) in Colorado. F1 sound in those bridges and tunnels.

An Akra rear with the same Xpipe. It wasn't too loud but no cats makes it smell real, real nice.

I had an M3world 2.5" Xpipe, no cats, with an Arquay rear in Texas. No drone and it sung! very livable. (subjective I guess)

Currently, I have the same Evo you have, carbon tips. Still smells but not as bad. I listen to the Nurburgring videos and to me, its the way an M3 is supposed to sound. GT4 Xpipe would be nice but good luck finding one.

I'm on my 4th E9X M3, 2nd coupe. Im not sparing any expense with this car. (1 of 30 individual). I'll stay with the Akra just because its the right quality and sound for this M3. If I get lucky and find a GT4 pipe I'll swap it out.

Ok...OP I was in the same boat as you with the AKRA setup, but what I did was get some adaptors (A member here sells them, Gordon) and added a Borla Attak rear and it sounds crazy good. I will see if I can get a sound clip for ya! No smell and the car sounds alive!

Would love to see a build journal on this car if you ever get the time .. I still remember the forsale ad for it from this forum; very clean car.

That's true. The E9x M3 sound insulation is very very good. My exhaust sounds loud from inside with windows up. Windows down its ear splitting but I like it that way.

There's really no way to make the S65 V8 exhaust sound bad, just a matter of the sound you prefer - lower growl or high-pitch scream.

[QUOTE=itsnotme;27834830]I have the full titanium Evo Akrapovic exhaust setup.

I spent a few days with it plus a new tune in my car. Feels great. Backpressure is noticeable for sure compared to my other exhausts due to the smaller diameter. Sound is very motorsport-y.

But wow, quiet... high flow cats are good for smell, but it's so quiet! I may go GT4 X-Pipe?

What would you recommend for a bit more sound? Or should I trade it for something else? Make my own? This is my 19th exhaust... I still haven't perfected the S65 sound yet. I need headers I think next...

This is my Evo with Borla rear. Phone mic sucks but you get the idea!

A small handful of people stateside have them iirc (less than 5 more than 1). IND was able to import a couple. JEllis has one, and we might be lucky enough for him to post a sound clip.

i have this combo now and it sounds intoxicating BUT there is a pronounced drone right around 3000rpm. if you don't daily, or do a lot of highway cruising in this range you're probably ok. Personally i love it, and would do it over again but my car is weekend toy only.

just right for the weekend car. you can hear it in the cabin but doesn't drone. outside it sounds pretty loud but not too crazy. I have a friend with Remus and no cats, no resonators and that one is a lot louder.

Well Spencer I just put on my Akrapovic exhaust and it will be paired with my Fabspeed X pipe with cats no resonators. I’ll hear the final product tomorrow. I will say that X pipe sounds amazing with my Meisterschaft gt2 system so I can’t wait to hear the Akrapovic. Plus the Eventuri plenum will add a nice hiss to the car over 4k rpms
