I have not saturated the new filter. Nor Have I put any fresh oil in the filter housing. Although it sounds like a good idea, I question how necessary that would be.

Great tip on the cap gasket..I will make sure I coat it next time.

And BTW, always change your oil with the engine at operating temp. I would think you of all people would know that!!

I see no need to saturated the filter. You are putting clean oil into the car and it has to run though the filter anyway to be circulated so no worries there.

I also always change my oil after I have had the car up to operating temp and then allowed it to cool for maybe 10 or 15 mins. The oil will flow nicely then and shouldn't leave a bunch of gunk in the bottom of the pan.

I don't believe the center separates from the rest of the cap.

3K in 1 year

Finished the job, and have one more observation: TWS 10/60 is a lot darker out of the bottle than other synthetics, meaning my 3K-mile, 1-yr old oil was just a tad darker than new . I was afraid I had too much blow-by, but apparently not. Take care gang.
3K miles in 1 year! do you even drive your car or is it a garage queen!
