Recommended oil change...

I'm at about 5500 miles in my M3 and the oil indicator says that I'm at about the half way point. Would you guys recommend changing the oil now? I understand that I would have to pay for it but I don't mind at all if it's good for the car. I've read that other members here change the oil at about 7500-8000 miles. What do you guys think? Is the halfway point a good place for an oil change?

A certain peace of mind comes from extra maint. Do it all the time.

For my last BMWs I got the free annual oil change at a few thousand miles.

Doubt I would have paid to have an oil change at 6 months. After all, the beauty of high-end oil is extended drain intervals.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the dealer to get an oil change done? I really can't leave the car at the dealership for more than a day at the moment.

2 hours. Make an appointment and wait or get a loaner.

Unfortunately you have to be 25 to get a loaner and I'm not there yet. 2 hours doesn't sound too long, I think will make an appointment. Thanks for your input

Yes. Except I don't pay for it, I do it myself. Probably wouldn't bother if I was leasing and not planning on keeping it, but I might keep it for awhile and I do the occasional track day or autoX day so I do it myself halfway in between the free ones.
