it has to engage the ABS I guess... seems like in my video it blinks for a split second when you can hear the wheels squeal... I guess that's when ABS kicked in

Yeah during my testing, you have to apply a lot of brake force and keep it there. Once you slightly lift the flashing lights will stop. It's easiest to do at 10-20 mph and just slam on the brakes.

My old E46 was set up with BFD stage 3 and it was under heavy deceleration without ABS engaging.

At 30s, is your best view of it on my E46 sedan back in the day.

The E46 had a threshold parameter... I wonder if E9x have one as well. I'll have to dig around.

My car might have a blown engine lol but if I get it back soon with a hopeful bearing change I'll definitely take a video!

At the 1:10 or so, there is a perfect example of the blinking.

Thanks, but I know how it works. Wanted to see it on FRM2. Mine kind of blinking right now, but only with an inner half of brake lights for some reason. And not 5hz although it is checked

We also tried to match default FRM3 settings, but it didn't help either

Bumping this.

I was able to get BFD and third brake lights to flash under heavy braking, I enabled

WBLG_WBL_Enable and the outters dont flash now, I may just leave it like this.

ok so I have a question to those that got this coded.
I have coded a frequency of blinking at 5_hz instead to 3_hz and I am wondering if I could increase that to 7_hz or 10_hz for faster blinking??? anyone tried that?

here is mine at 5hz and I think that's kind of slow compared to the regular BFD

It looks like you have 3hz frequency still (it flashed 3 times in a second).
P.S. Could you please upload your TRC file? I gave up trying to get this thing working on NFRM.

You guys looking for example videos of BFD? This video has a driver behind me on track. Slow laps as it was very greasy and wet from earlier rain. Been running 2:02.xx lately and nearly had a 2:00 flat but got stuck behind a car at the last turn. This video is ~2:15-2:20 pace. Lots of braking though

I do not believe ABS engaged. You can see how the brake lights come on normally as I gradually engage the brake pedal, then it starts blinking, and stops as soon as I get off the brake pedal.

Fast forward to around 5:13

Also some lols with this video, in-car is my friend James and the Miata is my friend Nash. Can see the BFD blink very rapidly for a short burst to load up the front for turn 8, after having gone off-line (start at 3:23)

True, my friend has a LCI model and brake lights blink under hard braking without ABS. Not sure if it's possible on NFRM, probably ABS only.

Actually, looking at it now and it seems that the frequency is just 1hz. This video reminded me about Cbozz one, and it seems to have 3hz.

Hi.

As I have understood BFD1 is BFD without ABS and min speed is 5kmh. How to activate that instead ov BFD2 where you need 50kmh and ABS active? ...with an frm2

I know this is an old thread but by adding 5AB to your VO you are doing the exact opposite. 5AB is a DECODING option for 2 stage BFD. In my country Japan, it’s there in the VO for some reason, and all we have to do to get BFD is to delete 5AB from VO and SG_CODIEREN FRM with a blank .MAN file. It is very possible that you had BFD from factory but by adding 5AB you just decoded it.
