The only true fix I have seen for this is to have your crank turned, milled down just a tad. It just to tight stock, would you offer this service? Also can you torque plate down the engine/mill/polish block back to specs? Don't know why they don't do this when they build the engine but its what causes these cars to eat oil.

No issues reported with main bearings that we're aware of. The block will need to be split to remove crank, it's easiest with engine removed.

Silly question, do you offer the VAC bearings as well? Or just the WPC?
Everyone! I'm not trying to start a flame war over what's better than the other?! Its just a preference thing. |

Is it safe to assume that none of this would be covered under a factory, CPO or extended warranty? I assume so since either failure needs to occur, or the owner is concerned and having it checked.
I'm picking up an '11 E90 on Monday and planning on having the oil analyzed shortly after to determine if I should have the rod bearings looked at. |

We have parts listed on our website, feel free to PM m3 if you are looking for anything specific.
Blackstone has done this in the past, typo on their part. There's 16 bearings (upper/lower) showing.

Hey Tom, I bought an e92 m3 2012 second hand and currently has 28k. Recently I've noticed a growing ticking noise separate from the ticking generated by the lifters. Its coming from the bottom left of the engine close to the drivers wheel well and the clicking is in unison with the rpm speed. Its not quite a developed rod knock noise but after doing some research I fear it may be a rod bearing issue. Now, I still have a year of original factory warranty but I still plan on getting the rod bearing upgrade from eas however had a few questions.
-since I’m under warranty, I plan on having my engine checked by the dealer. Can anyone suggest the best way to approach the dealer? -if the rod bearings are indeed the issue, will the dealer swap out the bearings with the same OEM bearings potentially causing this to happen again? -these issues were never fixed for the newer M3s? (my 2012) Thanks in advance! |
