What oil to use?
I've been searching the forums and can't figure out what motor oil to use for my M3 (2011 E90). Depending on the year the post was made, the answer is different, plus there are people talking about confusing advanced oil topics that I don't understand.
Sooo, can we get a sticky on this sub-forum stating what oil is considered best currently? Also can someone respond to me here as well? Thanks! |

Best is a relative term, hence the never-ending debate. General rule of thumb: go with what BMW specifies.

At first, I was using Liquimoly 10w60 with Molyslip additive.
But then I found Castrol 10w60 at a cheap price so I've switched back.

Where you find Castrol 10W60 in the great white north?

Being cheeky here. This topic has been beat to death. Don't take it personally. Opinions are like assholes - everyone has one. This is doubly true when talking about engine oil. If you use the BMW spec oil, and you do not run it a crazy number of miles, then you will be just fine. Cheers,

He sounds pretty sensitive
OP if you truly read thru the COUNTLESS oil threads then you should know that you’re going to get this response. There’s nothing you can ask that hasn’t been asked and the answers aren’t going to change. There is no answer same as there is no answer to which color is the best. |
