my m3 won't shift out of N. error codes displayed are: 5A61 5A63 according to a diagnostic tool it said that the faults were rod actuators. anybody have Amy idea what this is? or have any details about the error codes presented above? iv given my m3 into the bow dealership for a fault diagnosis so will keep you posted as to what comes of it. |

When I got home, connected to ISTA-D and got codes 5A61 and 5A62 about selector rod. Maybe the DCT is low on fluid and as I braked hard the fluid shifted too much with one end with plenty of fluid and the other end empty? I'm going to get the rod bearings done next month so will get the mechanic to take a look at the DCT fluid level too. I'm also running GTS tune if that matters. I had similar things happen once or twice while autocrossing it. No clue what the deal was, maybe fluid sloshing around from repeated quick movements? I'd get back to the pits, turn the car off, turn it on again, and things were fine. Drove the car for several more years without issue. DCT is just fickle sometimes.

Thanks for that. I was changing the 2 precat O2 sensors yesterday and noticed the transmission pan was oily at the bottom and fabric cover was oily inside too. So will definitely get the pan, gaskets and new oil done when I do the rod bearings next month.

If it's leaking, you're obviously low on fluid. That's not going to help things, but if it's only down a little bit I don't really think it's a huge problem. The sump is sizable.
