Question about EDC on E92 M3s
Hi all, I am seriously looking to order an 09 very soon.
i have few questions about the pkgs. (note: I live in Canada, so maybe some differences from US) The options Im sure i will get are: MDCT tranny $3,900 MDrive system $2,500 For M3s with/without EDC, is there a hardware difference? like do they use different springs etc? or it just adjust the stiffness down from the non-EDC M3s that the sportest mode on EDC will = standard M3s? and what is High-Gloss Shadow Line($795)?? How you guys like the Adjustable Seat Width w/Lumbar Support($1100)? Im not getting the Audiophile Sound Package($1500) nor the Executive Package($4000 wtf) since i will just upgrade the sound system to an aftermarket one. Any inputs will be helpful, thanks all!! |

I'm not sure about the suspension hardware, but the EDC is a very nice thing to have. Sport is stiff. Comfort will be much better on an extended road trip.
The seats are great. If you are a big guy, you will need the adjustment. The high gloss shadow line is just that... gloss black trim as opposed to being flat black (as opposed to being chrome) around the windows. The stock stereo is completely integrated into the electrical system of the car. I would get the upgrade and leave well enough alone. Just my opinion, but hope it helps. Good luck! |

I'm not sure what non-EDC M car's have as far as suspension. If you get EDC, you will have 3 choices: Comfort, Normal, & Sport. Comfort and Normal are *active* suspensions, while Sport is not. IMHO, Normal is the best setting and worth the EDC price if the non-EDC M does NOT have an active suspension.

high gloss makes the trim around your windows black
not sure about springs, but the dampers are definitely different. and yes get the adjustable seat support. they hold you in place much better. |

Correct, and thus normal (and comfort I suppose - though I don't use it) can in fact get stiffer than "sport" if needed. Active suspension is great. Sport can be good if the surface is very smooth - hardly the case around town and even at most tracks.
