I bought my M3 with 36k miles. I'll probably hold off on getting the bearings replaced until the warranty is about to run out.
blackstone reports are only good if you have several of them from early on, as a baseline. Many people claim the BS reports offer peace of mind, but if you only have one, you have no idea what the baseline is. For example, I had one when I bought my car. It had a clean bill of health. 5k miles later, I replaced the bearings (w/ BE bearings) and they oem ones had significant wear.

Any updates to the list of NC shops for rod bearing replacements?

Got mine done at GMP a few weeks ago. Great service, took ~2 days, slightly cheaper than a couple other quotes but I've been going to them for years now.

At an impasse. Have had work done at all of these shops over the years. For the most part, very fair and good work. Quotes are close enough. My biggest gripe is time it takes. I've had shops say they need the car for up to 2 weeks to do an RB replacement. Worries me a little as shops in Cali (and other parts of the country, i.e. TN, NJ) can do it in a day.

If a CLT shop can do it 2 days or under, has BE/ARP in stock for $2.5k or less, I'm in. LOL

North Raleigh is a bit too far most likely but BPC did mine in 3 days, in the midst of the last hurricane we had in late sept/oct. Dropped it off on Monday afternoon I think; car was done by Thursday morning. Actually, they did a few other things as well.

I'm guessing the smaller shops can focus on getting it done in one day simply due to volume. I believe all in all, it's a 10 hr job if I'm not mistaken. Personally, I'd go w/ a shop that does a high volume of RB replacements; BPC does at least one a week I think.

That's what I'm looking to do. Just need to source the BE/ARP parts!

Everyone seems to think around $2500 is reasonable. Does that number include the parts or is that just the labor?

That should include the parts, and again, best case you're looking for BE bearings and ARP rod bolts.

Just replaced these with BE Bearings and BE/ARP Bolts. 2009 e90 at 62.5k miles. These were the lead/copper bearings, pre-LCI.

GMP Performance did the work. Ordered parts from Silicon Valley Bimmer (had BE in stock).

The Blackstone report 500 miles before these were taken out read:

- Lead @ 3ppm
- Copper @ 9ppm

One of the motor mounts; other was beginning to tear

Tops

Probably the worst

Great info, thanks. Been working on other stuff, but will be taking care of the car in the next couple of weeks.

After considering all the other shops, GMP is the way to go: for expertise, quickness and price. Definitely change out your motor mounts. I got mine from FCPeuro for $100, so if you go to change them again, they're warrantied (i.e they'll refund you when you ship them back).

I'm in Charlotte also, saw this photo on GMP FB page and I finally decided to pull the trigger! My car is your twin. Unfortunately I'm waiting on backordered BE bearings.

Awesome man! Maybe I'll see you around. I'll actually be there today.

FYI - there are shops that have BE bearings and bolts in stock with highly competitive pricing. If you can, cancel your back order and pick up a set now! Let me know if you want to and I'll give you some ideas.

I thought GMP focussed more on Porsche but between GMP or Dynamic Auto Tune. Which would you take for the bearing job?

Get labor estimates from both and go with the lower cost - they're both great shops. You can pick up BE bearings from west coast shops for significantly lower prices.
