Question Eyeing a 08 E90 M3

Hello all. I've been searching for an E90 M3 for a few months. Here's a little background info on myself: I've owned a 1999 E46 323i, 2001 E39 M5, and a recently sold 07 E92 335i which was a nightmare (HPFP,injectors, water pump, etc). I did finally come across an AW 08 E90 M3 6MT with 36,216 miles for $39,900 in SoCal. Does that sound reasonable? It was previously listed at $40,900. Thanks for any input. I really like/want AW! Here is the link: http://www.stasales.com/vehicle-deta...08-bmw-m3.html

Glad to see they're holding value so well. When I purchased my AW 6MT '08 E90 2 yrs ago, it had ~36k miles and I paid a little over $41k for it.

eh, a decent deal, but I'd rather have an 09 (LCI) w/ CPO warranty for a couple grand more.

Hopefully I can talk them down a little if I decide to go with this one. This will be my first time buying a vehicle in Cali. The taxes here are crazy!

I plan to get a warranty through USAA. They have a pretty good plan.

That's where I bought my car from! Had it shipped from there to SC. Price wasn't THAT fantastic, but the car had absolutely everything so I pulled the trigger.

Also, this one below might be worth looking at. Wheels are meh, but it has the Fox Red extended leather and relatively low mileage. No heated seats. They'll ship it to you, or you can road trip it!

You need to be cautious when buying a car like this because it is, in many respects, a used hot rod. And the previous owner may have driven it as such.
From the CARFAX, the car has an in-service date of 4/08 which means the CPO on this car is only good for 6 more months (4/14). If I were you, I would ask the CPO be extended at least one more year. If that isn't feasible then price check other companies who issue warranties (USAA), then reduce your offer on the car to cover that cost.
Ask for a BMW service history on the car.
Be prepared to back out if it doesn't pass your "smell test."

Just some thoughts.

Not sure if you can extend CPO, but you could buy BMW Extended Vehicle Protection (EVP).

For my part, I may be weird but I actually prefer the rear end of the 08's. I think the tail just looks nice and is highly functional... and parts (bulbs) are dead cheap and available everywhere.

I thought at first I would hate it, but I don't. While I'm not a huge fan of the pre-LCI iDrive, that's such a minor issue compared to the rest of the car.

I'd say it's a good deal, OP. So long as it's the car you want, you can't go too far wrong
