Apex Wheels - Bad Paint QC?
I recently purchased a set of Apex VS-5RS wheels in Satin Bronze. Upon inspecting the wheels I noticed multiple paint "pops" or particles caught under the paint on each wheel. I've purchased multiple sets of wheels before including a set from Apex in the past and I have seen a spec here or there but have never seen it to this extent, where every single wheel has them and multiple of them. If spending close to $3k on wheels I would expect better. Am I being too picky or did I just get a bad batch? Could it be that I bought some of the last stock and that just so happens to be where the bad eggs end up? For people that have purchased wheels from Apex, have you seen these paint specs on the wheels?

Wow you're really picky lol they're cheap Chinese made rep wheels man. The finish is decent enough.

Agree, very nit picking.
I have to squint to see most of those. A few brake dust cycles and you'll never notice them.

Good eye! This paint quality could definitely better. However, in my opinion, it is passable for $3K sets of wheels. At this price point, you're paying Apex and Titan-7 for forged construction and proper vehicle fitment. Beautiful finishes can be obtained from Volk and BBS at approximately double the price.

I didn't look too closely at the paint finish of the VS-5RS before installing them on my M2C. They're covered in brake dust now and have some pretty big chips in them after just a few thousand miles. |

I've seen similar on TE37s brand new and even ffound a minor imperfection in the paint on one of my new bbs e88s..
They're wheels.. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you think that's bad, wait until you mount these on your car and actually drive it on the road.

Yeah, that’s beyond OCD. $3k for forged wheels is cheap and the paint quality is better than I would have expected from a Chinese wheel manufacturer. Now if we’re talking about $8-10k, or even more expensive, forged wheels, then I might be able to understand this level of expectation in wheel finishing/painting.
