Got the hose hooked up today. Really impressed with the quality of the eley hose reel. I had to use some extra adapters, but it's all squared away. I need to get some oil for the kranzle and I'm hoping to do my first wash tomorrow.

I got to stay off this forum, it costs too much $!! Awesome setup! Does it require a special filter system? Is a whole house water softener sufficient for supply? Was just checking out the cheap-o amazon one, looks like it doesn't have an auto start/stop function or the ability to pump its own supply. That's a lot of power to leave running. Not sure if I care about the remote water supply. You get what you pay for I guess though. Looks like the kranzle is one to go with...

the house doesn't have a filter system. i used these in-line "rv filters" i got off amazon for pretty cheap and they worked pretty decent. however, i screwed the filter directly onto the gas pressure washer and had a quick disconnect into the other end of the filter and i think it was too much vibration for the filter because it developed a crack.
the grey hose line you see coming off the kranzle is what came with the hose reel, and i'm going to use that to connect to those same filters so there isn't any weird vibration or weight of the hose on them.
i have a a friend that has a pretty serious filter for car washing that he doesn't use anymore and he told me i could have it. he's going to be out of the area on business for a little while though.

eley is good stuff. i was a little reluctant because of the cost, but it was one of the only horizontal reels out there, and it just happened to be good quality. everything is beefy and i can tell it is going to last a long time.

i'm contemplating getting one for my backyard garden hose. i hate those plastic ones that sit on the ground and just become spider havens and move around every time you pull hose. i don't think i'll use the rear hose as much though.

I'd highly recommend adding a proper deionizer to your setup. I got one from CR Spotless before the new tariffs hit, but even at the higher cost it would be worth it to me. No more rushing to avoid water spots, no real need to use the Metro Vac on the daily drivers.

I've been eyeballing those! I like the flow monitoring for filter health. I really like stuff that just works and I don't have to think.

It's rare to find stuff that "just works" these days. The CR Spotless stuff just works. I've been detailing for a long time, and this definitely resides on my top 5 product list. If you order directly from CR (great guys, btw), use my email for $25 off (der325racer-reg1 at yahoo dot com)!

so i have an embarrassing confession- just to show you how it goes for me sometimes. i got all the hoses hooked up, nice tape on the threads on my adapters and disconnects... i pull the m3 into the driveway and everything and i just need to finish the final steps- add oil, and bolt the kranzle to the shelf.
so i get the funnel, it fits snugly in the oil, got my 15/40 oil and i start pouring it in. i'm looking at the sightglass... looking at the sight glass... nothings happening. it looks the same. and i'm thinking to myself, man, this thing might take the whole quart! yea, i filled the funnel all the way up and its overflowing and spilling onto the pressure washer. so i grab my fluid sucker and transfer it back into the oil container, but its too late. the oil is everywhere. so instead of washing my car, i spent the next hour detailing the oil out of the exterior cooling fins of the pressure washer. fun stuff.

Would your pa give me a swat?

I'm lucky mrs beef didn't see it. She has a thing about me spilling garage fluids... seems to happen a lot and I hate the spilled oil speech because she's 60% right. :

I suppose you have already bought a pressure washer to wash your car but I would like to say the best jet washer for cars I've ever used was Karcher electric pressure washer. They really make the high0-quality cleaning equipment. I use a pressure washer for car and home as well as a vacuum cleaner. If you will decide to buy a new one I recommend Karcher K4 Full Control.
