How much overrated? This is very difficult for me because I always used rotten tomatoes to decide whether or not a movie was worth the 12 bucks. It always seemed like it was the most fair/unbiased movie rating system. But now with Get Out at 99% and Black Panther at 97% I am beginning to wonder if politics is ruining it. I really enjoyed Get Out but it wasn't better than the Godfather. Oh well I hope it's good I have been looking forward to seeing it long before the RT rating.
It's a good movie - not a great movie.

Thor Ragnarok was better IMO.
The Thor movies are the only ones from marvel I like. They've been consistently good.

For any theater chain to not have a weekend showing for this or any Marvel movie understaffed, is simply wrong and poor management. The pre-sales were indicative of what was about to happen.

Did your kiddos like it?

It was extremely entertaining and I cabe wait to watch if again in my new Home Theater setup!
It is now the 4th largest opening ever. And it opens the door for more diversity in characters, directing and storylines. Because Hollywood is about copying success.

I wouldn't let politics stop me from seeing anything. But this movie wasn't political at all IMO. It was much better then Ragnarok and I really liked that movie. Just very well done. Can't wait for INFINITY WAR!!!

They really liked it, especially Michael P Jordan. I want to see it. Though I'll skip Infinity Wars. I really don't like the Avenger movies.

It was pretty good but not spectacular. I know I will get flamed for this but I also didn't think Deadpool was all that special.

My favorite superhero shows\movies
BLADE (the 1st 2............AWESOME!!!!)
Batman Trilogy
Logan
The Punisher, Netflix show.. Although I enjoyed the movies as well.

Blade 2 is 1 of my all time favorite movies and those 2 movies kind of solidified the fact that comic books can make for great movies. Like 30 awesome entries later, we're here now.

Black Panther was awesome, every bit as good as I hoped it would be. Hadn't watched a moment of footage since trailer 1 by choice and I was pleasantly surprised by a lot. The whole "is it political?" thing has been stupid to me from day 1. It's a superhero movie, go watch the damn movie and enjoy it. End of story.

Joe Rogan sums it up pretty well in this clip.

Favorites by the way...

Spiderman 2 (Original Trilogy)
Dark Knight
Blade 2
Guardians of the Galaxy 1
Iron Man 2

There's a lot that are pretty close. I didn't care for any of the Thor movies, Ragnarok was cool at best.

Would put Logan as one of the all time great marvel movies.

Patrick Stewart was amazing.....

Bro, how can it be fair and unbiased when it's run by a group of critics? IMDb's rating system is so much better. And yes, the politics are definitely playing a part in this. People are being called racist when they say anything other than praises about Black Panther. It's ridiculous.

Very first post here....

I am by admission, a Marvel fan boy! I wear that badge with honor lol! From a "storyline, character development, cinematography, and acting standpoint", it is THE BEST Marvel Studios film ever made!
Don't believe me? Maybe the President of MARVEL Studios is a little more reputable for ya:

"The movie finished, and I looked over at Ryan (Director), I said, 'that's the best movie we've ever made,'" Feige said.

Really good movie. Top 5 marvel. After watching I thought the political aspects were a very small part of the movie. It seems like the genius at disney figured out they could bump up ratings and box office numbers by talking about how politically revolutionary it was.

I don't get it.

I have 20 minutes till the end but in my eyes this is as flat as a movie can be. Formations are colonial. The mistakes are the usual. The women look like the women in movies.

This is written for the white folks like me.

So I watched Black Panther a few weeks back with a buddy of mine, both big movie (Marvel) fans and frankly action adventure genre in general......when it was over we were both disappointed, I found it slow, and underwhelming. I know I'm going to get flack for that but I have to be honest it was painful to watch....sorry.

Peace

I agree. My wife and I watched it a few days ago and both thought it was awful.

Bought it in 4k on Friday but now wish I had waited until it was on HBO. 5 out of 10 stars for me. Too slow and boring and to be honest they didn't do a great job on the audio in my opinion.

It was an OK movie. It certainly made Black Panther himself more likeable. I’d rate it no higher than the first Captain America movie. For me, Killmonger ruined the movie. Maybe I was expecting too much when people were saying that Killmonger is the best MCU villain ever, and his performance was even better than Heath Ledger’s joker. He was sooooo cliche, and I hated how they tried making him heroic towards the end of the movie. It’s like we are supposed to disregard all the bad shut he did in the movie. It would’ve been better if T’Challa spartan kicked him over the cliff.

also picked up the 4k last week since I didn't make it out to the theatres. I wasn't that impressed with this movie.
