2011 ZCP with run flats?

I have a 2011 E92 with ZCP. It came with Conti Sport Contact 3 tires. I thought they were run flats, but I can't find the "SSR" designator on the side wall.

My right rear tire has a slow leak. My SA said that they can not plug or patch run flats and that run flats need to be replaced if punctured. I looked at the Continental website and well as Tire Rack.com, and it seems that the Conti Sport Contact 3 265/35 ZR19 (98Y) is not available with run flat (SSR) technology.

Did any of you get run flat tires with your 2011 M3 w/ZCP?

You dont have run flats. You need a new dealer.

You can make a compact spare if you want. I used the BMW X6 spare wheel, and a tire from TireRack. Do a search and you can find the details.

I've encountered several people with M3's who think their cars came with runflats. Like most M3 owners, these two were incapable of admitting they were mistaken, so I just told them to let all the air out and let me know how it works out...

When I was considering the M3 and commented that there was no spare, the dealer said it uses run flats. So, maybe the non-ZCP M3s have run flats???

No M3s have runflats.

Dealer sounded like it was just trying to make a sale.

I believe you. Here's another reason for the confusion

http://www.irvinebmw.net/vehicle/spe...74#vehicleinfo

"Tires
  • Diameter: 18.0
  • Prefix: P
  • Profile: 40
  • Run flat: Run flat
  • Speed Rating: Z
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System: Yes
  • Type: Run flat performance"
I guess this falls into the "don't believe everything you read" category.

I guess I don't have enough patience for people who can't do some cursory research before purchasing an automobile. I felt a little bad afterwards but it was at a racetrack so at least there were a couple trackside support trucks doing tires for our racecars in case they gave it a shot.

The "M3 has runflat" confusion seems to crop up regularly, and the source is usually a dealer. The charitable explanation is that they just see that it has no spare and ASSUME it must have runflats. The cynical explanation is they do not want to deal with customers being nervous about no spare/no runflat.

You should have a compressor and sealant that will handle most minor punctures. Roadside assistance (BMW, AAA, or other) is a good backup plan in case of a catastrophic tire blow-out.

My 2011 M3 ZCP has runflats. I have the same ContiSportContact 3 tire as you M3TiAg. I hit a pothole a year ago and split my tire from top to bottom, my car told me I had i think 20 miles to get off the road safely and to keep it at a certain mph which I cant remember.

Wow, didn't realize how late to the party I was on this one! Came across this thread shopping for another set of rear ContiSportContact 3's. FYI, due to the ZCP's lowered ride and wider track, the tires sorta rub on tight turns on a hill but I guess not like the Pirelli P zeros it also came stock with. I've seen the ZCP with more than one brand of tires, wonder why.

ZCP-equipped M3s will come with either PS2, P-Zero or Conti C3 - all are OEM spec (star logo on sidewall) and are not RFTs.

Dude, stop the nonsense.

No M3 has runflats from factory.

It is called the BMW M Mobility kit, standard on all M3 since MY2001.

What!!! I have 12mm spacers front and rear with my ZCP wheels and Conti tires and I have no rubbing whatsoever. Where are you saying they rub?
