A little late here, but I thought I'd chime in since I own a 370 and have spent a fair amount of time around e9x M3s. From the factory, the Z is down quite a bit of power compared to the M3 and is probably going to run 5 seconds slower on an average track given equivalent tires. That's not to say you can't make the Z very fast, and plenty of the Nissan Challenge guys have done it.

The big problem is that the 370Z is not as track ready as it looks out of the box. Now every car needs some prep, but in the case of the Z, it's significant and expensive:

- Fuel starvation on right-hand turns with 8/10th of gas in the tank unless you replace the fuel system for roughly $2k
- Clutch fluid (any) boils unless you replace the clutch hose with an insulated line or delete the slave cylinder
- Engine overheats and goes into limp mode within one lap unless you install the largest oil cooler possible
- Engine vulnerable to oil starvation (ask me how I know)

Nissan hasn't touched the car since 2009, so the 2017 Nismo still has all of these issues.

Some good points about it (again, from the factory):

- Excellent Rev-Matching manual...maybe the first one (?) to hit the market back in late '08/09.
- Very good brakes (Akebono calipers and 14" rotors) on the Sport and Nismo models. You need better pads and fluid for the track, of course, but the car comes with plenty of brakes even for my extensively modified build.

Ultimately, good car, but you have to put in a *lot* of work and money to make it competent on the track.

370 is honestly a piece of crap lol. i have friends that owned them (one still does and its twin turbo). stock vs stock its consierably slower isnt anywhere near as fun to drive and nuild quality is just idk i cant describe how crap nissan is.

Stock m3 brakes cook on the track also. That’s why I changed to apracing breaks up front on my active Autowerks level 2 supercharged m3.

All Nissans are junk. Even GTR they are just fast so people get over it.

You have to consider that the 2015 370z is mainly the same as the 2009 model which released in 2008. It is by no way more advanced than the e92 m3. I've driven both and the e92 is more balanced. As far as pure grip goes, if you stick fat tires on the Z or the M, they will both pull high Gs but the 370z's have oil starvation and overheating issues. I've had two G37S (they are practically 370z's with more weight and longer wheelbase) and the car is more comparable to a 335i, not an M3. Keep your M! But it's a great car if you can get a clean earlier model for cheap as a track beater or daily.

Honda Civic Type R recently beat a STI and 370Z around a track.

Use to own a G37 coupe with the same motor. FBO with a ecutek or uprev will net you around 320whp which is pretty quick. These cars understeer heavily. Even when I was on KW V3's it was noticeable(might be better on the 370). The Akebono 4 piston front have a lot of fade even with my HPS pads. Our single piston brakes imo are better.

The Achilles heels on these cars is the shit bag clutch system. I went through 2 clutch master cylinders and upgraded to a heavy duty CSC(this is located inside the trans housing).

+1, happened to mine as well. Happened to my both of my friends twice. Its a bad issue.

I don't know about the tire or alignment specs on yours but mine didn't understeer. This chassis usually has a tendency to oversteer from the many different versions I've driven.

The brakes were bad though, mine warped all the time.
