Picked up 330i today_First Impression: This car is fast!
FINALLY picked up my mystic blue 330i today. I've been dying
to drive this vehicle after reading on this forum for 2 months. I really didn't get to push the car during my brief test drive(and even then i drove a 330xi). I'm leasing my car, so i don't really care about any break-in periods. Just as a courtesy to the engine though, I drove about 50 miles before i let loose and let me just say, WOW! The handling, steering, road feel-Don't think it can get any better than this. Also, anyone who thinks that this car is not fast, I really dont know what to say to you. This car pulls so strongly from ANY speed and the rush is nothing short of exhilarating. I only imagine it will get quicker with age-can't wait! With all the people complaining about the 255hp not being enough, and the prospect of a new super fast 335i I was so worried but now i really could care less. This car has MORE than enough power for me and passing on the highway will be no prob at all with this car. I can't imagine why anyone would need a quicker car than this. Maybe I should of test driven the 325i. My brother's g35 sedan has 280 HP and this feels faster. BMW hp numbers can be quite deceiving I've learned. Can't wait to go out and drive some more tomorrow! Oh yeah one more thing, I'm so used to "lexus" brakes and I pressed the pedal like i would in my lexus and the car literally stopped on a dime. Incredible! E90 |

Wait till you run-in the car. It keeps getting better! Oh and since you might enjoy the car so much that you might want to buy it out after the lease. So treating it well might nevertheless worth it.

'02 330xi (which to me was pretty quick-but 330i still feels a lot quicker but i guess it's all subjective) Those two I knew even on paper I would be going to a faster car. But I think it really does feel quicker than my brother's G35 sedan and I think that car is pretty quick too, so I'm using the the G35 has a objective measure. btw for reference-all ^ auto's |

By the way, shouldn't the 330i pull around a flat 14 to high 13 second quarter mile?

My car has the power to pull high 11s, but I can't drive for shit. The guy that built my car has one with pretty much the exact same power as mine, but with a much better suspension and about 700lbs of weight reduction, that runs in the 9s.

Here is a video of the guy who built my car running 9's in his Bullitt. His name is Tim Matherly, and he owns MV Performance near Atlanta. http://www.mustangdyne.com/racingima...E3_001_002.wmv

Speed Fall Off?
That's funny, I find that my acceleration increases after about 60 or 70.....it is so responsive to acceleration after that that it can be scary....for example. If I aggressively step on the gas while I'm cruising along at 70, i find my self doing 100+ in a matter of about 3-4 seconds...NO JOKE. It's like a sling-shot!

That sub 9-second BMW is outrageous. So quick without much fanfare.
I wonder how the Nissan Skyline GTR does in the quarter. |
