Test pipes and rattling noise

Had a shop do a swappable test pipe setup (V-band) on my car over the week. Got it back, and I noticed a sort of rattling noise (or maybe a resonance) once you start it up and move it in gear. Weirdly, after getting onto the road and speeding up, the noise is gone at the next stop.

Any thoughts on what could be causing the noise? I checked the pipes, there were only two things that looked like the could cause a noise. The brackets hanging down that are typically connected to factory pipes, and a small body screw. But there didn't seem to be enough play in the pipes to make contact. And of course, there was no noise when I tried to take a video.

Does the rattle noise happen every time it starts up and move in gear like you say? If it does why not take it back to the shop and have them check it out? Curious which vbands did you go with and what diameter did you use 2.25 or 2.5?

It's a 2.5", they used a Vibrant 1490. Am going to drive it a bit more and see if the issue persists.

Keeping an eye on this.

I've had this exact same idea from day 1 about how I'd want to do primary cat deletes for my own car.

Might be exhaust resonance vibrating the drive shaft heat shield.

Any suggestions on a gasket?

Took it back to the shop, they didn't note anything that would make the noise. They dropped it and retightened it, now it's only making noise on the passenger side. It actually has been getting better over time, though at one point it did sound like it became open dump. Stopped at a light and it was back to normal after that.

What test pipes did you end up using?

You still running resonators ? I had a similar issue and had them removed and never had the problem again.

VRSF test pipes, since the Rogues seem to be constantly out of stock.

Still running resonators, but don't know why they'd be the cause. The sound definitely seems to be coming from near the header connection.

Running the same ones, sounded great for a while and now I’m not so sure... sounds like they are loose but all seems tight. Going to get a better look this weekend.

pm me and I'll send you a part number for a tested gasket that works with most aftermarket x-pipes/testpipes.

Ended up picking up some fresh OEM gaskets and put them on last week. The passenger side gasket seemed to be stuck to the flange on the header connection. Seems like it wasn't seating well against the test pipe. Replaced it and the noise has virtually disappeared. It popped up briefly when I started up the car after driving into a gravel parking lot. Haven't heard it again since that time.

Could you PM me the part number for that gasket. I have an undercarriage rattle I'm pretty sure it's the donut gasket. Thanks.

I have a rattle, at about 2k RPM under moderate acceleration, often when the DCT is in a higher gear and lugging a bit. No noise otherwise. Wonder if mine is related?

Sounds exactly like what I had. Ended up being bad donut gaskets. Replaced them once and fixed the noise for about a week, then it returned. Turns out the new driver side gasket shit the bed. Knocking on wood that the new one holds up.
