SS Brake Line recommendation?
So the general consensus with tracking stock brakes is to upgrade to SS lines.
But I can't find a brand recommendation, or does it even matter? I've seen prices range from $90 at FCP to $200+ for turner lines. Is there benefit to the higher priced ECS and turner lines? Or are the stoptechs for example fine?

That's what I figured. Maybe fcp would be smart, due to their warranty. Though I can't imagine a brake line would fail?

its not a common part to fail. people swap them out to SS and forget about them. probably not worth the premium for a warranty.

Surprisingly the fcp lines were the cheapest around $95 I think! Stop tech and ecs were around $125

HEL, lifetime warranty. I had the rear subframe brake lines fail (probably due to excessive subframe movement tugging on the lines) and they replaced it for me with slightly longer units. No problems since.

I went with FCP, no issues so far but it's only been 6 months.

As roastbeef said, there's likely very little difference between the brands. I've been happy with my StopTech lines on my race car. FCP could be a smart route because of the lifetime warranty though.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Reached out to the shop who I'm having do the labor and they said they liked the BimmerWorld insulated lines. Going with their suggestion! Planned to DIY but at $400 for the lines, motul 600, and labor I couldn't pass it up!

One of my front OEM brake lines failed. It started leaking at the connector where the rubber boot meets the metal end.
I replaced it with ECS exact fit lines. They seem pretty high quality. I like how lines are rubber coated and shrink fit boots where lines meet the connectors. I don't know if all that makes a difference but it seemed like a thoughtful touch and extra protection at the location my OEM lines failed.

Does anyone have any more in depth experience with swapping brake lines?
I'm looking at the OEM lines on the 2011 E93 and the fittings have notches. The replacement ECS have the same notches, however both Goodridge and Stoptech are not an exact match, they do not have the notches. Help?? |
