how vinyl wrap hold up for hpde?

considering vinyl wrap my car (this new glossy wrap called inozetek looks pretty good compared to older glossy wraps).

i typically go to HPDE / autocross a few times a year, can someone shed some light on how vinyl will hold up with track usage?

i know some stone chips will be unavoidable (but i guess having vinyl in some sense is a good thing to protect the underlying paint), how about molten tire chunk / tar thrown on the car? would those fuse together with / damage the vinyl?

No issues. Tons of track cars have clear bra which is similar. I have clear bra on my car and the tire skid marks wipe right off with bug/tar remover. Hell, I add/remove stickers on top of it all the time (numbers, classing, sponsorship) and it's never been an issue.

I would still ask the film manufacturer, as I have no clue how good that stuff is versus Xpel.

If it's a color wrap, it protects less than nothing. Looking at it intensely will already make a hole in it

I wrapped my E90 M3 and then had to get PPF on it immediately. Driving to the PPF place I already got a couple holes in it

vinyl wrap is not the same as a clear bra, so don't think its going to protect your paint the same. it has to do with thickness and elastic properties.

SYT_Shadow may i ask which color wrap (brand/material) did you use?

the wrap guy i'm going to use told me this inozetek wrap is relatively thick and holds up pretty well. obviously i understand there is a grain of salt to be taken coming from a wrapper...

guess i'm to find out...

I used 3M 1080, not exactly a bargain basement material.

I have used Xpel self healing clear bra on the entire front end of my track. It's been on there for years and has held up pretty well.

However, we have seen decorative wrap melt in one day at a track around the wheel areas. Those areas can get damn hot.

hm melting will not be good. but seems like the majority of opinion i heard so far is they do hold up ok for DE... the lure of a new color is too strong i'm going to give it a try anyway.
