Cracked Steering Wheel, repairable?
My steering wheel has certainly seen some better days... is this repairable? If so, what would be my best route to do so?
If not, I was looking at Coby Wheel, does anyone have experience with them? |

I would just go the Coby wheel route. Your leather looks pretty weathered and it probably cheaper to re wrap instead of trying to have it refinished. We have installed a few of their wheels here and they were nice quality.

Good to hear! I wonder if my wheel is acceptable for their core return.

Dont think there would be an issue as they cut off the leather anyway and re wrap the wheel.

Me: "Hey so I have to take the next week off." Boss: "What for?" Me: "Well my vehicle currently has no steering wheel" I contacted Coby Wheel and sent the pics, they confirmed that they would accept it as a core return. |

Coby wheel is pretty legit and quite cost effective. Michael is a pretty to the point dude, but if you send him an email with a picture asking if that's an acceptable core he'll probably give you a pretty quick "yes" or "no"
Here's some work Coby did for me:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, I just found it a little "all business" - I probably shouldn't have said anything. It more more me trying to say, if you have a question, you can skip the social niceties. I feel like if you were to email him: "hey, I hope your week is off to a great start! I've seen your work and it looks great, I'm looking to have some work done on this or that and... blah blah blah, and blah blah blah, and what color would you recommend so that it comes closest to matching the stock colors. Thank you so much for your time I look forward to your response" About 10 minutes later he would respond: "Grey" It's as if he is paying a dollar per letter when he responds to you.

You're better off just buying one for $300 on here. Sounds silly, but wash your hands before driving.

I don't believe his "no frills" attitude towards communication would be a reason to sell.

I've found keeping a small brush in my center console and just hitting the wheel while sitting at a red light once a week, plus the one time I cleaned it with a damp (water), clean rag has kept my wheel perfect so far.

Wheel looks great
I have no issues with Coby or how he does business , I like the strait forward attitude What I didn't know or like at all, is the fact he wrapped it OVER the leather, meaning my already to thick stock wheel, now is so thick I can barely touch my finger tip to the top of my thumb and it just makes the whole driving experience numb for me Some people love thick wheels, but for the track I don't see it working for me Wheel is great tho non the less |

I thought about doing the Coby Wheel myself too, but after long consideration, I much prefer the OEM leather wheel over the alcantara.

Looks nice. Mind if I ask how much Coby charged for the alcantara DCT boot?

I'd have to look. I want to say $75 though.

Pro tip: got a couple of drivers gloves as a joke present. Looks like complete *** but turns out brilliant for longer drives. Have to hide hands away when passing others though. |
